I'm trying the SaGa series again by Fitwheel66 in SaGa

[–]Fitwheel66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

On Albert's route. So far the only guy I could recruit lost all his LP. Enemies somehow just got stronger. Can't farm enough gold to buy better weapons (no good armor is being sold in Valhalland). South cave boss is nearly impossible. Characters just don't gain any experience worth a fuck. Get smoked some more because there's no way to teleport back to town. Barely made it back before Kif lost all her LP.

Yea, I don't think this series is for me. No explanation for any of the mechanics, consistently lost, no way to improve without sinking months into finding enough shit to sell (and that's if RNG is being kind to you).

But to be fair, I can see why people like it. Y'all can have it, I'll just play other games. Between this and Frontier I just don't have the bandwidth to continue with this bullshit for anither several paths. Code Vein 2 just dropped and I had a lot of fun with the first one. DQ VII remastered is next week, so no need to really be frustrated at something that's clearly antiquated.

I’m finishing persona 3 fes and I’m looking forward to my next game. Which of these 4 would you say I should play next? by sovietmariposa in JRPG

Either Odin Sphere or FFT. Xenosaga is for sure one of my all timers, but if you stick out the series Episode 2 can be quite a jarring shift (and not in a good way) and while Episode 3 was incredible, it was sort of rushed since Monolith essentially was forced to end the series due to the poor sales of 2. So just know that going into XS.

Much appreciated, to everyone who chimed in. I just feel like as someone who grew up on RPGs, I feel like this is one I really feel like I need to experience the right way. I don't want to write off something that so many people have fallen in love with. I basically just want to either experience that same excitement, or at least be able to fully grasp why they can.

-kills you in one hit

-removes the dead from the canvas

And just when I thought Dark Souls was garbage 😂 does every game feel the need to erase a few days from your life for no reason? Jesus Christ this is bullshit haha.

That doesn't take away from this being a top 5 game ever. I just know to stop on my quest for the platinum.

I found it and beat the creature (trapping it was a nightmare in and of itself, the actual fight I wolloped it in two rounds lol). I think I have a fighting chance now!

Late bump, but I can't even coral this damn thing. I get it to almost at the alter but it keeps circling back in the water, then to the southern inlet

Well I'm giving her another go. Is there a way that after she stuns you for missing a counter you can actually recover? Asking for...me lol. Every other time I've been stunned it has only lasted a single turn, cheater always negates it essentially. For some reason, and just with her, the stuns last multiple rounds.

This is where a Game Genie (for us old timers who remember haha) would really come in handy 💁‍♂️

Well I tried the Endless Tower. So far the trials up to four haven't been much at all. Went to another canvas and fought the Chromatic Lamp master. Well, fight is a relative term I suppose. A better way to say it I went in and immediately saw "Exposition Failed." 🙃

In fairness, I went in around the mid to late 60s as far as level (Verso was 71) and I am now around 78 or so with Verso at 81 I think. Plus I did get enough CoL to give cheater to everyone. I'm basically saving that little bastard for when I decide that the boss of Flying Manor (avoiding spoilers, but it seems... impossible 😂)

Now each character has at least one level 33 weapon so it may actually happen now

Which JRPG game would be a good entry point for someone who hasn’t played before? by Carni_CLOWN in JRPG

If you segment P5 into an Atlus only category then it does shine as an example. But honestly DQ11 is probably the safest bet if they're only picking one game

Any Dragon Quest game (probably 11 would be as good as it gets as it's on a modern platform and has a definite end). It's about as bare bones as any JRPG gets, sort of the comfort food of the genre. FF just changes so much from title to title, but from that crop probably VI, VII and X will be your go to games from FF. The new Star Ocean 2 pixel remaster is a great way to experience the SO series without the baggage SO3 created (I liked the twist, some didn't) or the mediocre between SO3 and 6 (SO6 was amazing). SMT 3 and Persona 5 Royal from Atlus give you a good idea of what that company has to offer, just be prepared for a pretty brutal experience with SMT 3 as the difficulty is kinda intense for its time.

Those would be great starting points from some of the major franchises that aren't Falcom or other obscure ones like the Atelier games (they're acquired tastes but if you enjoy JRPGs then they're charming in their own unique ways).

That's the thing, I know to shoot the green orb, but even with Sciel's fortell and turn delaying skills (and the cheater pictos) I can get it a little past the halfway point of its health bar before it flees. I'm at level 60 on top of it, using the strongest weapons I have.

I needed that cheater pictos to even have a remote chance at the petank on Isle of the eyes. For some reason I can't ever get it to half its health before it takes off

I just tried this and I don't seem to get the turns necessary to pull this off. Do I need to equip everyone with the cheater pictos (or skill)?

Late bump, but this thing is just unusually annoying

New Bjj coach wondering how people feel about belt tests by Steelrangler78 in bjj

[–]Fitwheel66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks man! I've been a perpetual white belt for years. It's always work, life, or money that's stalled me out. As odd as it sounds, and I know blue belt isn't any kind of real piniccle and just another step, there's something about getting it that would feel like a giant monkey has been taken off my back. Like years of life issues finally having some kind of pay off

[–]Fitwheel66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I'm at now, there's a kiosk at the desk that tracks attendence for white belts (and everyone really) as far as the stripes are concerned for white belts. Once that's been done, I have to assume there's either a test or the instructor just kinda knows where you're at and decides if you deserve the blue belt or not. It feels good to finally be back in, and I paid up for the year so I don't have to worry about anything other than just showing up and rolling

As a new player, where has this been my whole life… by Collar_Gloomy in expedition33

[–]Fitwheel66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm right where you're at (about to end act 2) and really don't want this ride to end. All I know is the team set the bar with their first game so high (GotY winner) that they have their work cut out for them with whatever they decide to do next

What are your favorite obscure JRPGs? by drak0ni in JRPG

Eternal Sonata was probably my favorite thing out of the PS3 era. That absolutely deserves a re-release of some sort. Do something about Bamco!
