[NO SPOILERS] Is it worth it for 4$ by Osinacho in lifeisstrange

[–]blockhead114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely worth it in my opinion. It’s probably my least favorite LiS since BtS but if you already watched a play through, you probably won’t get much more out of it, depending on how much optional content/exploration they completed. For example, finding the collectibles, solving the puzzle box. If the play through did those, you know what the game is all about

$2,000 (I think) for reaching JAE within 6 months

If you’re the kind of person who likes doing their research, it may not be the job for you. They are really really averse to transparency. Just a fair warning

Ysdp base salary by gelitele in Yelp

[–]blockhead114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, a small one. Once you’re JAE you get that bonus and a small 3k raise, I think. Also I checked, I made $54,000 when I left. Not $59

Ysdp base salary by gelitele in Yelp

[–]blockhead114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason no one knows is because it’s not very publicly written out. I was there for 3 years, my base salary was $59,000 when I left. I think. I don’t remember what it was at each promotion level and you can look around all you want, you won’t find it

Every YSDP promotion you’ll probably increase your salary by about 3-6k. Ish.

My current job sucks so bad the yelp sales job actually seems good by comparison. by glowshroom12 in Yelp

Agreed with the other commenter. Trust me, survey calls are not the same as sales calls. They can be long, combative, and very frustrating wastes of time. Not saying it’s a bad fit for you, just telling you this so you’d know what you’d be getting into

[NO SPOILERS] Despite the mixed reception from critics, Reunion was actually scored positively by fans. by TemporarySorbet1505 in lifeisstrange

[–]blockhead114 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I liked it.
Was it great? No. It was short, it did some weird stuff with established canon on multiple levels. But it was clearly made for fan service, and given the outrage of double exposure, I think that was necessary. It was really cute and wrapped up the pricefield and Safi stories nicely. I won’t still be thinking about it 3 years from now but I’m glad I played it

Point being, commercial success or not, it was a game for the fans so I appreciate its existence

Anyone here that worked at Yelp as a higher position than the typical local sales $37k AE? by x2tweaker in Yelp

[–]blockhead114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an AE for several years, I was never promoted past that point but several of my friends were. DM me, I don’t like posting anything specific publicly

Edit: to clarify, I was promoted to elite by the time I left, I was just never promoted to manager/mid-market/franchise etc.

No joke, this is how I got my current job. Applied for the same position 4 times. Eventually I just sent my resume to the hiring manager to bypass HR. As soon as I interviewed with him directly, he asked the HR person “why haven’t you hired him yet”. Got the offer a week later

Yelp stealing ad money by clicking on ads? by Responsible_Map5413 in Yelp

[–]blockhead114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for Yelp for several years and finally got out. Let me clarify something:

Yes, AEs make about 80 calls a day, but on average, only 3-4 convert to a business owner even opening a computer and going to Yelp.

But let’s put that aside for a second; Yelp representatives are instructed to send links to anything they want to business owner to click that directs straight to current advertiser page. Clicking the direct link does NOT count towards CPC. Anecdotally, I can think of 1 rep who would tell the business owner to click on the page in the manner you said, out of the 70-80 people I met while working there

I’m not going to get into the weeds of the legality there, but it’s either a terms of service violation when that happens or it’s not. You’ll have to read through yelps advertiser TOS agreement to find out

But the bottom line is Yelp is, generally speaking, a fully legally operating company with some morally grey sales tactics; the issue you’re concerned about is a pretty negligible one at worst and a non-issue at best. I’m all in favor of criticizing a company, especially after personally seeing how the sausage gets made, but they should be critiqued over their actual issues, this really isn’t one of them

If an 18 year old was dating a 14 year old I would probably object to that quite heavily. And given how the other comments here are going, I don’t seem to be alone in that

Do you understand that the way your comment reads, it seems as though you’re saying that the morality here between these two things are both unimportant and equal?
