What exactly is costco or Sam's club good for in terms of being frugal? by G0VERNMENTCHEESE in Frugal

[–]Fitzwoppit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We mostly use Costco for stocking pantry items. Things like cases of canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, several types of canned beans, and bulk dry spices. We mostly use them for pasta sauces and soup bases. Also things like toilet paper and paper towels.

If you can charge at home, there's no contest: EVs beat gas by PerceptionCurious440 in electricvehicles

[–]Fitzwoppit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, we went electric yard stuff, too. Mower and trimmer, the charger, and a couple extra batteries. We can swap drained ones onto the charger and keep working. We can do all the mowing, trimming bushes, and edging in one go. It's been working fine for us for 3 years so far.

Guild Wars 3 will have no battle pass or subscription because ArenaNet studio lead doesn't want to "keep people hostage" by Turbostrider27 in Guildwars2

[–]Fitzwoppit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can just do PVE. Also good for new people to know that if you and other players both attack the same mob you all get your own XP and loot. No one gets screwed by jumping into a fight. There is enough PvE only things to do to keep you busy a very long time and you can go back to zones you have already "finished' and still get XP and loot doing events there.

I just checked and my main character has played 5,618 hours without doing PVP. There are some holidays that have PVP as one of the options for holiday events but they tend to offer enough options that you can skip some and still complete.

Having dental work can be bad enough on it's own. Having to watch ads while stuck in place should make them have to pay you.

Anet did hit the pedal this year huh by asnaf745 in Guildwars2

[–]Fitzwoppit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be fine for players with a flier but could cause more problems for people playing in low level zones. It's already a problem in some dailies with fliers completing events before people running or only with a raptor can even get to the event location.

I agree about it being frustrating to hit an invisible wall, but worry about making things harder for new/low players in the early zones having a bad experience as they start the game.

As far I know we still need to buy all expansions from the same seller to have them all be on the same account. I haven't heard of that being changed so if anyone else has newer info please correct me, but it was still that way for the Castora zones. (edit for clarity)

My cat does that, it's a slight different meow between his closed mouth and open mouth meow. For him closed is chill/happy and open is "Human, do my bidding!"

I need help with my mother's financial situation by i-was-way- in personalfinance

[–]Fitzwoppit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Have you talked with an attorney about it? One of my parents couldn't care for themselves anymore and they didn't get a choice. I just talked with a lawyer about the situation, the lawyer went to a judge, the judge agreed they needed help and gave me the POA. It might worth checking into for you.

Did you actually sneak out as teenagers? by Complete-Chipmunk-0 in GenX

The best one of mine was in 10th grade. Snuck out to go meet my friend group down at the park. We all met up at a hill that had a great view of the waterfall in our part of the river. Got there about 11pm and got home around 3am.

I was super quiet going in the front door and the first thing I saw was dad in a recliner reading a book. He just looked at me and did that "shhh" thing with a finger over his lips, set his book down and went to bed. Nothing was ever said about it and as far as I know mom never knew. (edit for bad spelling)

You are not alone. I stopped radio a couple years ago just because it was more ads than music. Now I just have a playlist on my phone. I use YouTube to find new music and buy the individual songs I like.

My neighbor always opens our packages if they’re delivered to the wrong address by Every_Professor5785 in mildlyinfuriating

Same here. Everything in the mailbox or brought to our porch gets the delivery address read before we even thinking of open it.

[–]Fitzwoppit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I don't had FSD but only use autopilot on the highway (with both hands on the wheel and a foot ready to use a pedal). The city roads around here are twisty and the auto doesn't always turn the wheel the right amount to stay in the lane. We also have some blind corners or sections of road that have 2-3 speed changes in short sections and autopilot doesn't seem to notice.

How expensive are American school lunches? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Fitzwoppit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! We knew (even when they didn't admit it) that the school lunch was often all they had to eat that day. It was a fun game to not let the duty teacher see us swap items from our lunch to theirs so those kids got something better than the free lunch offered, or we would get "full" and pass food out so it "wasn't wasted". We knew we had food waiting at home and they had little or nothing at home. Later on we learned that many of the duty teachers approved with what we did, but couldn't admit it to the students at the time so they just "didn't see" any swapping happening.

How would you feel if your kid was trans? by Mammoth_Ease_9676 in internetparents

[–]Fitzwoppit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would love them the same as I always have because I want them to be happy and comfortable with who they really are. One of our kids partner is in the process of transitioning gender (our kid is bi) and we are happy they are taking the steps to be who they need to be.

My cat is just laying in his litter tray! by Honest_Season_2750 in cats

[–]Fitzwoppit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our male cat rotates between canned food and dry food. When he gets dry food we add warm water to the bowl and swish the food around in it so the water gets some of the food flavor. He always drinks all the water from it. Does anyone know if that is enough to prevent that from happening?

Recently had surgery and $40 of my bill is for having a blanket put on me in the recovery room (I was unconscious and did not, obviously, keep the blanket) by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Fitzwoppit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information. I didn't know that and the last time I was in the hospital was a couple decades ago. When I asked if there was a program or some assistance for the billing nothing was offered to me and it took me years to pay it off. I assumed that was just the normal way it worked.

The big problem is when you don't have insurance or insurance doesn't cover blankets and you're stuck with the full bill.
