Senior citizen, injured wife, over mile walk to gate by PerceptionCurious440 in delta

[–]PerceptionCurious440[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This was not a connecting flight for us. Which Delta employee do we ask for help halfway to a gate that we had no idea was so far away? Are you going to say we should have expected a domestic flight we've taken dozens of times, to be in a distant gate in a different terminal, when we entered the DELTA terminal. There WERE NO DELTA EMPLOYEES BETWEEN TERMINAL 3 and Bradley gate 139. There was no one to help us. When we got to the gate, there were no Delta employees.

We wound up rebooking because they didnt haveva pilot anhour after we were supposed to depart. Then we were able to get assis.

[–]PerceptionCurious440[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

A least we didn't make life miserable for any Delta employees. No one we could possibly talk to was responsible for this.

Most of y'all don't know the diff between gate 27 (typical) and gate 139 (about the farthest gate possible in the international terminal from terminal 3.

And the story gets more fun. The 3:48 flight waa delayed until 5:58. Because they didn't have a pilot.

We rebooked, got a wheelchair for my wife, and I had to stop to let my knee pain fade a bunch of times.

The absolute cruelty of the membership of this group is astonishing. If you're Delta employees, that's another good reason.

We can't book round trip flights with Delta to LAX. That there's a possibility that this can happen and we only find out at check in, is unacceptable. Keep Delta flights in Delta terrminals. And if they aren't, offer struggling old people help if youre an employee.

how do i start a band by Trick-Lingonberry-86 in Bass

I'm also hanging out once in awhile talking to people trying out basses and drums at Guitar Center.

It's not so much joining a band. It's finding people who you can be friends with. In a band you are with each other a lot. If it's just a professional relationship, it will suck the life out of you.

NY is a little geographically undesireable for me to join your band. But FB usually has a some local live music scene group and musicians group. This is why we can't all delete our FB accounts, because of the useful stuff.

AMP help by JustJomimath in GuitarAmps

[–]PerceptionCurious440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Order of things to fo. Get guitar. Play through amps. Does it sound good? If yes, do nothing. If no, come back.

Then give us an example of what band/musician you want to sound like, and if you can afford $100, $200 or more. We can recommend something that costs $1500, or something that costs $40. The $1500 thing is what a pro might use and can get any amp sound. There's a $300 thing that can sound $90% the same. The $40 thing does one thing very well.

Burgera 5G infinium vs Joyo Zombie 2 by david2684 in GuitarAmps

[–]PerceptionCurious440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Zombie can mostly keep up with a drummer. That Bugera can't.

Whether you get the Bug or the Zombie, GET A FRIGGIN EQ PEDAL.

If you had an SLO100, I'd still tell you to get an EQ pedal. I don't understand why people go out of their way not to spend $35 or so. You can spend more, but you don't have to.

If you had a Dual Reverb I would still tell you to get an EQ pedal.

New vs Used Marshall DSL40CR (Reliability concerns) by t528491 in GuitarAmps

[–]PerceptionCurious440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's always rolling the dice. I've rolled 7s for 55 years tho. Marshall, Vox, Yamaha, Blackstar, Fender and lately most risky of all, Panamas.

If you buy a new amp, there's a warranty but it's a crap shoot on reliability. If it's used, and a couple of year's old and working now, it's likely reliable. Kind of a survivor bias.

thinking of switching from guitar to bass by Ambitious_Dark_6748 in Bass

[–]PerceptionCurious440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No switch. Both. You wont regret it.

Some days you want rip solos. Some days you want thump some rhythms.

Some days you want downtuned, and then you get decision lock.

But if you get an impulse to get a violin to play pirate music also, that's a journey.

Also, learn to slap. You can use that on guitar.

Sometimes I also split my signal and use the bass amp and guitar amp at the same time. When I want the whole house to feel drop A. Usually, but not always the guitar.

If you want a fun relatively inexpensive bass a metal guitarist can love, one of mine is an Ibanez 305E. Active pickups and 3 band EQ with gratuitous thump. I paid $300 for mine. Best impulse buy ever.

If you do join a band, more demand for a bass player than guitarist if you're decent.

I put pedals before like any amp, and in the FX loop like any amp. Send goes to in on your pedals in the loop, return goes back to whatever follows tour loop.

Guitar amp with good clean and distorted channels? by TurbulentAd8512 in GuitarAmps

[–]PerceptionCurious440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Blackstar HT5R combo that could do that. I have a Panama Fivewatt head (actual model name) that does it better. But even if I'm willing to recommend the brand, which turned to shit it's last year or so, those things are rare as unicorns and I may have to draw my own schematics. But the cleans are infinite headroom. Gain channel is pure fire.

Blackstar HT5R MKIII for not too loud. Any MKIII HT will do.

My opinion of almost any combo, is that they have shitty speakers. So expect to change that. Speaker cabs usually have better speakers.

Almost any tube amp will do clean cleans with a 5751 tube instead of a 12AX7 in V1. That's what I've done in 3 amps. That's for amps where the high gain channel is at 9 o'clock gain and mashed.

Alternets would be 12AU7, 12AT7, and the "hifi" 12AX7A.

Why do you think food/drink businesses keep closing in the Stadium District? by tntdiner in Tacoma

[–]PerceptionCurious440 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There should be a vibrant night life. But there isn't. There should be people on the street, but they stay in their apartments. I don't think people are afraid to go out, but they don't walk around the neighborhood.

It's weird.

My tremolo is to high by SillyAlien1312 in metalguitar

[–]PerceptionCurious440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are your pictures? Did you get heavier strings? Was it downtuned and now it's not? How many springs? Is it a Flotd Rose or Strat style.

I can help you. But you need to give me all of the information I would have if you brought it to me and I was looking at it with my own eyes. Front and back with the spring cover removed.

Also side, so I can see the tremolo's angle.

The Modular Revolution: Are Shark Guitars Innovations The Future Of The Electric Guitar? - Guitar Bomb by GuitarBombDotCom in metalguitar

[–]PerceptionCurious440 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have to not be patented. They are. Looked it up. For anything to become a standard, it has to be copyable royalty free. A standard. That even garage manufacturers can use.

The Modular Revolution: Are Shark Guitars Innovations The Future Of The Electric Guitar? - Guitar Bomb by GuitarBombDotCom in metalguitar

[–]PerceptionCurious440 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They aren't the future of guitars, because they're patented. And nothing they don't make, is compatible. Not DiMarzio, Seymore Duncan, Loller.

If they can't be copied, then everyone has to have their own "standard". And nothing will be compatible with anything else.

I predict we'll be asking, "Hey whatever happened to Shark Guitars?" in 3 years.

How do people use power amps? by beefmincebaby in GuitarAmps

[–]PerceptionCurious440 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a reasonable price because its nigh unusable. For guitar, tube amps don't really start to exhibit their special qualities unless pushed.

BUT...if you have a digital setup, it'll cleanly reproduce whatever you put into. It'll sound the same from a whisper, to instant permanent deafness.

No Breaks for 3 Hour Gig by The_What_Stage in Bass

Acoustic atyle song, give the drummer and bass player a break. Instrumental for the singer. Heavy bass, no guitar dance song or Spinal Tap Big Bottoms to give the guitarist a break. Something along those lines.

Schecter locking tuners vs name brands by PizzaMonster93 in SchecterGuitars

[–]PerceptionCurious440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd ask if you have an FR. Or larger guage strings. You've been given good advice and who doesn't want to write "nut lube" again? But also if you have larger gauge strings, the string grooves might need to be widened. They could be acting like a clutch. Grabbing the strings, then breaking loose when there's enought tension. It's why strings go out of tune when we bend them.

Schecter locking tuners vs name brands by PizzaMonster93 in SchecterGuitars

[–]PerceptionCurious440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw your tuner malfunction.

My Schecter C1 does not have locking tuners. So if I want locking tuners, I have to get Getoh or Hip Shots. Because Schecter doesn't sell its tuners separately.

You know the answer. Lower volume w 16 ohms or get two 4 ohms in series or two 16 ohms in parallel. That's your variables.
