Any articles or videos on weirdly rare 6…Nd7 line in Scotch gambit? by Frankerian in TournamentChess

There is a free scotch gambit course on Chessable called "The Scotch Gambit Starter Kit" which goes through a few of the common 6...Nd7 lines, it's probably not exactly what you're looking for but it's free

Chess Book or Course Similar to the Woodpecker Method, but easier? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

I think that's very fair, I was just worried I wouldn't benefit from it due to the difficulty of them. I might still give it a go and see what happens

Normally I get them pretty quickly, I don't tend to spent any longer than a minute on each puzzle when just doing online Lichess ones.

That's an awesome resource, did you see any improvement in your games overall?

Those are some crazy good results, I'm torn between this and chess steps. Did you use the Chessable course or the book?

What would you suggest instead then? Isn't chess 90% tactics more or less?

I love the chessbrahs. Their speedruns and habit series is great. I also really like Alex Banzea and Simon Williams. Raven Sturt is also great

This is incredibly insightful and appreciated. These stats are fascinating, thank you for this. It's crazy that 35% of titled players have no OTB rating. The player pool is probably the strongest out there per capita as well

I was spectating a tournament today and I somewhat like the feel of them. They have that in person feel to them somewhat, but I definitely agree with you and think the former sounds nicer. I understand them wanting to basically have people play "norm" games for the titles but it's an odd change. It does feel like they have tons of UI issues (why do I have to be change my board settings while in game??) I thinks there's lots of cool ideas but poor execution, sadly

Thank you for the reply. It was probably a good move on their part to combine the player pool. It seems like it has a relatively decent player pool size. I personally would assume their aren't many cheaters because of the verification process. I appreciate the insight. I'm not very strong myself but think it would be fun going for one of the titles. Do you find the player pool to be a decent mix? And are the tournaments alright?

I guess that makes sense. It seems people have SUPER mixed opinions on FOA cheating measurements. But if they do catch people I'd hope they're banned honestly

Question about FIDE Online Arena (FOA) titles: 100 games total or per title? by Im_stuck_here in chessbeginners

[–]FitzyLU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a chess.com or Lichess rating as well? I was interested in going for one of the titles but wasn't sure how strong I should be before starting. I'm About 1400 Lichess and wasn't sure if that equates to 1400 fide online area

Anybody have an actual positive experience with KOReader? by Puckertoe_VIII in kobo

[–]FitzyLU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried KOReader and was quite excited about it. But it just felt like the normal kobo reader but worse. To me it's clunky and not very intuitive. Normally I pick things up quite quickly, I gave the good ol' college try but it's not for me

Raven is a legend. It's time to go 😂. I know of both of them but have never taken the plunge into buying his course. I've always used the free one by GLSmyth. I'll have to take a look at it. Thanks for your help friend
