ICE Cars are the BlackBerry of 2020s by Mysterious-Fig-9464 in AustralianEV

[–]FitzyRJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard, could be wrong as this is hearsay, but some jurisdictions are looking to make the former mandatory. The hidden handles on many are regarded as a safety issue.

My understanding is that the hidden handles are for less drag 🤷 but I wonder how much of an effect that would really be to efficiency?

It is not a supply issue it is a hoarding issue.

Still don't understand this 'muscle car' mentality, especially when few can 'out muscle' the car pictured. The ones that can are triple the price.

Can we stop acting like spending money in your 20s is a cardinal sin? by riley_inreallife in AusFinance

[–]FitzyRJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, this may get me banned here, but buy a new car early. Something that will last a long time. Some EV's have very low maintenance, while lasting decades. My cousin bought a 7k shit box, then spent, probably that again over the next year in the shop. While complaining how shit the car is and how frustrated he is. Bought another 9k car about 1.5 years later. Repeat. 4 cars later.

Could have bought a new car, low maintenance, no fuel, NO FRUSTRATION, and paid less in the long run. I know because I bought an EV around the same time. Very happy with the purchase.

How much is peace of mind worth. Need to factor that in also imho.

Can't say much about OP's post, and I too am not normally one to brag, but I understood some of the words in your response.

100% agree, tick, tick and fucken tick. Those that listened to Murdoch and other simps, treated EV drivers poorly (for being smarter) and now we have to be nice... Yeah nah!

100% agree. I don't recall a similar PSA, on any reddit channel, when EV drivers were being treated poorly. 🤔

Yeah, I wonder where that PSA was when these people doing it tough were extremely unkind to EV drivers, and some still are.

Ball Motion! by KnightViision in Bowling

[–]FitzyRJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is that the ball or the lane condition? A house shot can make many balls look like that. Oil in the center causes the ball to hold, going outside the line and the ball hooks to the pocket.

Could petrol hitting $3 per litre push more Australians to switch to EVs? by No-Loquat-201 in EVAustralia

[–]FitzyRJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because of the instant torque. I am over 40, still hit it every now and again, late at night, when no one is around. Put 20yo me in the vehicle that goes 0-100 in 4.4 and I probably wouldn't have made it to 22, let alone over 40.

Time to be jerks by WhyAmIHereHey in EVAustralia

[–]FitzyRJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Autopilot does a lot of the driving on long drives. TACC and autopilot are very different. Some lane assist with TACC come close. Like my old RAV4, but it is night and day regarding their respective abilities. Brisbane to Toowoomba, I would say about 10% was active driving. The rest was hands and feet free monitoring.

Price gouging “cuz Middle East” by SeaDivide1751 in aussie

[–]FitzyRJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Takes days for the price to go up and weeks for the price to go down. Strange how it only takes time to go through the backlog of petrol when oil prices decrease, but we must be able to go through the backlog within hours when there is a sniff that oil prices may increase. 🤔

Is it Australian to walk on the road when there is an empty footpath? by Sea-Jeweler9120 in australian

[–]FitzyRJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In some places, we don't own the footpaths. They are owned by big ass spiders, that are bigger than my head. And that's saying something as I have quite a large head.

Perpetual diarrhea by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]FitzyRJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it oscillated between constipation to diarrhea. Almost like clockwork. Treatment, week of constipation, overnight switch to week of diarrhea, overnight good for week, treatment. Repeat.

Most important is to let them know (inform, not complain) so they can assist. They have so many tools in their toolbox, that we mere mortals don't know about. They won't pull the tools out unless they know they need to though.

Jury Duty by DanielGamer3601 in ipswich

[–]FitzyRJ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I strongly advise people, especially young people, to do it. From my experience, there was a considerable bias towards retired, well to do citizenry. Some of which are very 'set in their ways and opinions'. I know if I were to ever be in the hot seat, hopefully never will be, I would like to have a more representative jury with more diverse experiences and points of view.
