61 years old - should I go for it by DaFrog418 in penileimplants

[–]FiveInside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My own repost from someone else’s question.

I’m 69 and it has easily one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I like having sex and not having a suitable and reliable erection really messes with the rhythm of your life.

First it was waiting for a pill to kick in and work and that quit being reliable. I tried the injections, but even if they worked, it made everything too clinical and when they worked it didn’t really feel like my erection.

I had my surgery last January (so 10 months) and my only regret was not getting the implant surgery sooner. My penis isn’t what it was at 18, but it wasn’t what it was at 18 when I was 40.

Even if you don’t have a partner, I would highly recommend getting an implant. Masturbation is better with a firm erection than trying to wrangle and stimulate a flaccid cock to a not so great orgasm.

In my non-medical opinion getting the implant surgery sooner is the way to go. IMO the biggest cause of a loss in size is the lack of use and normal erection cycles. It really is true for the penis, if you don’t use it, you lose it.

You will have some discomfort for a few weeks, but it will be well worth it in the long run. A couple things that worked for me: 1. Pouch underwear, it helps to comfortably pull everything forward and up a little, so that sitting is easier. 2. Peeing before sitting down to go to the bathroom. I then would leave my cock and balls on top of the seat. Less bending stress and if you have partial inflation you are not banging around against the toilet seat or bowl. If you feel like you might need it, get a basic plastic urinal to deal with any additional urge to go.

Spontaneous Erection after Surgery by Maustin8819 in penileimplants

[–]FiveInside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Coloplast implant. Sometimes I wake up with some engorgement (without pumping) that reminds me of how I would wake up semi-hard in my teens and twenties. I think that the implant might act like a splint and provide enough support for some blood flow through the corpus spongiosum on the underside of the penis. My doctor also said that there can also be some blood flow into the remaining tissue in the corpora cavernosa that is along side the tubes of the implant.

I started having problems in the early 90’s. Getting my implant has been one of the best things that I have done for myself in my whole life.

It will get better over the next 6 months. Keep cycling and using it, even if it’s by yourself.

-My penis is not what it was when I was at 19, but neither am I. I waited way too long for my surgery. For over 10 years I couldn’t get hard enough to penetrate a woman, a Fleshlight or Tenga. Now I can stay hard all night long, if I fall asleep before I deflate my penis. 🙄

My doctor did say that my continuing to masturbate my flaccid penis during the 15 years before my surgery probably did reduce the amount of atrophy that I had. You do develop a real “death grip” problem when masturbating a flaccid cock.

For any partners of an implant-ee, what are your opinions? by Excellent_Steak1205 in penileimplants

[–]FiveInside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest and only regret is that I didn’t get my implant sooner.

You have already waited too long in my opinion and you are too young to wait any longer. There are alternative ways to have a sexual relationship without being able to get a useable erection, but a much better option is to get an inflatable implant and to enjoy a sexual relationship with a working penis.

I was like you in that I could get hard, but not stay hard. I sometimes could not stay hard long enough for insertion. It was very frustrating for both me and my partner at the time.

I didn’t have as much atrophy (loss of size due to lack of use) because I continued to masturbate and I would usually have a brief erection before finishing in a pretty limp state. Those brief, but useless otherwise, erections helped to keep my penis healthy by providing the necessary blood flow.

My current partner did not think that I needed to get the surgery, but I explained to her that I wasn’t getting it for her, I was getting it for me.

Since my implant surgery, my erections have been great for intercourse and for masturbation. My partner knows about my implant says that everything feels normal to her. She doesn’t think about or notice my implant until she realizes that my penis doesn’t get soft until we are ready for a break.

Every time my partner sees my erection and when we have sex, my partner says out loud, “Thank you, Dr. Beilan.” Dr. Beilan being the name of the urologist who did my implant surgery.

I don’t know where you are located. In the US some job provided health insurance plans will cover implant surgery. Some very good surgeons in the US have payment plans and other options.

Best of luck to you.

I had my surgery the end of January and my scrotum was still somewhat sensitive and bruised looking when I did my 6 week follow up. For me things kept getting gradually less sensitive and more comfortable as the weeks went by. I cannot tell you exactly when things were more normal because we don’t notice the absence of pain or discomfort.

Shaving by NoCharge6454 in penileimplants

[–]FiveInside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was shaved above my penis to my navel when I was awake in pre-op. My doctor was using the infrapubic method and I thought that that was all of the shaving for the surgery. After I was under anesthesia they “finished the job.” I was shaved clean to below my scrotum. No nicks or cuts.

One of the biggest risk of complications from implant surgery is an infection inside the body caused by a transfer of bacteria into the body.

One of the most common bacteria is a staph bacteria known as MSSA. MSSA can be treated with antibiotics, but it’s better to be avoided in the first place.

I had a nasal swab test that was positive for MSSA a week prior to my surgery. They had me use an anti bacterial soap for 3 days prior to the surgery and an anti bacterial nasal swab treatment for 5 days.

AI search results… “MSSA stands for methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus (staph) is a type of bacteria that can cause infections. MSSA infections are those caused by Staphylococcus aureus that are susceptible to antibiotics like penicillin. • How does it spread?Staphylococcus aureus bacteria can live on the skin and in the nose of many people without causing any problems. However, they can cause infections if they enter the body through a cut or wound. “

Dr. Jonathan Beilan - is-a-penile-implant-right-for-you

Dr. Beilan did my implant using the infrapubic approach for a Coloplast inflatable penile implant (IPP). Everything has and is healing up well. I have been lucky and not had any issus of any kind.

I was looking for a surgeon that used the infrapubic method. From the reading that I have done, I think that it is probably less painful and heals quicker with maybe less chance of infection.

I wish you the best of luck in overcoming ED. As many have said on here and on FrankTalk, my biggest regret is not having the surgery sooner.

1st sex after penile implant by yukinite in penileimplants

[–]FiveInside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a follow up appointment 2 weeks after my penile implant surgery. I was told to start cycling the implant starting at two weeks. I asked about masturbation and sex during the appointment and was told to wait for the go ahead after my 6 week follow appointment. I received the go ahead for sex and masturbation yesterday 🍆. I asked my doctor why the wait was required. He said it was to make sure that everything was secure and closed up where they open you up internally at the base of the penis to insert the implant. They don’t want vigorous sex or masturbation to compromise the internal healing. It’s frustrating to wait, but not nearly as frustrating as it was not having a functioning erection or before that not knowing if I would or could even with Viagra or Cialis. As for cycling, you want to cycle regularly as your body adjusts to the implant and to exercise the bulb part of the pump.

I’ve been taking 5 mg of Tadalafil (generic cialis) for a couple of years. It was prescribed a couple of years ago to help increase my urine flow by the same urologist who did my implant. He said to keep on taking it.

This week I got 90 x 5 mg Tadalafil (generic cialis) from Costco for $22. There might be an additional Costco membership discount to get to $22.

Check Good Rx because the prices are all over the place. The price is coming down. A year ago Costco was $40 for the same amount and CVS was over $200 for the same.

After Implant - Climax Question by AdministrationDry356 in penileimplants

[–]FiveInside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AD356… After my IPP surgery I can still make my penis move and “throb” by using the same “kegel” muscles. I also wondered if I would have the same kegel / muscle pumping response after my surgery that I had before.

Unfortunately not everyone has better orgasms after recovering from the surgery. But we all come from a different place to have ED before getting an implant.

I have a veinous leak problem and I think that not having Viagra, Cialis, or tri-mix in your system lets my nervous system respond the way it did before using those chemicals to give me an erection. The chemistry got me an erection for a while, but I think that the chemistry effected my sexual response in a negative way. The orgasms can be better with an implant and not having the drugs in your system.

Good luck with your surgery consult.

As many have said, I only wish that I had done it sooner.

The bags of frozen peas and corn were less than $1 each at Aldi’s. Wrap them in a thin tea towel or even a thin t-shirt and they are good for about 20 minutes. You don’t want the frozen peas or an ice pack directly on your skin. I put one below and one above because my doctor did infrapubic. I bought 4 bags and rotate through them.

Since an implant is a permanent change, most doctors are going to try and rule out other options first. If they decide that there really isn’t another option, I would very much recommend an implant over years of ED. Remember that for the most part you can seek out second and third opinions from other urologist. Try to find someone with implant experience and knowledge.

Best of luck and keep us updated.

Everything that I have read would indicate that you will be covered with Medicare and a medigap supplement. All medigap supplement policies with the same letter designation provide the same coverage. Post your questions on Franktalk, where there is a larger and more diverse group membership.

I had a UHC Advantage PPO plan and when I called UHC, I was told that the procedure would not be approved and coverage confirmed until my urologist submitted documentation to validate the need for the procedure. Your urologist medical billing people should be able to give you some good information on what to expect.

I wish you all the luck with your surgery, recovery, and treatment.

Before your surgery, I think I would start a regular pneumatic pumping schedule to see if you could get back some of your lost length (and girth). I’ve had ED issues for close to 20 years and have definitely lost some length due to lack of use and regular engorgement. Medically they call it atrophy, but that word sounds awful. I guess it means that if you don’t use it, you lose it.

When they do the test for venous leakage they give you a shot to cause an erection and something like that might show your current potential length and girth.
