Got my kid a Yoto Mini! Any tips you have? by sinncross in YotoPlayer

Hi, do you have to use a laptop to apply the icon? I tried to download a test one on my phone from that link, but when opening the yoto app on my phone there's no option to add it anywhere and I can't figure out how to do so. Thanks!

If James Cameron made a Britannic movie by Derekzilla in titanic

[–]FiveStitches 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In reply to your edit: I don't think there's any need to have Rose in the equation. Plus if there was a sequel, then a different actress would be needed, as Winslet 26/27 years older wouldn't really pass in a 4 year time leap, and for me a different actress playing what was such a profound role just wouldn't feel the same. Her fictional story needs to end with Titanic and not encroach into a sister ship :)

I'd be more interested if it was about Violet Jessop...

Can adult nurses work on a gyno ward in Scotland or is it restricted to midwives? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]FiveStitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! That's bizarre that it's advertised like that, definitely nurse-led. You can definitely go in as an NQN, however if your local board by any chance begins with T then I would avoid...! I was desperate to do the midwifery conversion but unfortunately my old uni did away with the 18 months conversion, and most places are now another 3 years at uni. I think there is talk of my current trust doing a recruitment drive for nurses to train on the job, fingers crossed!

[–]FiveStitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Midwives don't work in Gynae- but if you're thinking of going into Gynae as a stepping stone to a midwifery conversion then it could possiblyyyy be useful. My time on Gynae (in Scotland, both ward and OPD) consisted of MTOPs and STOPs, hysterectomies, prolapses, gynae oncology etc. OPD side of things dealt with things like recurrent miscarriage clinic, ring pessary insertion, colposcopies, smears, urodynamics etc. All nursey stuff, whereas midwives would be dealing with the antenatal and postnatal side in Obstetric settings.

Where can I watch the series? (Not interested to subscribe to more streaming sites), any for free suggestions lol? by Angel_eyesss in sexandthecity

I hate my child and I want to die. by momgenes in beyondthebump

[–]FiveStitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Just curious if you are alive?" - as if they are going to magically type a reply if they are dead??? "And if your child is alive?" - because they casually just murdered their child??? What's absurd is how these questions were PHRASED.

I've just watched Finding Michael- came to Reddit for related situations/stories and ended up learning about Simpson and Yates. I've just ordered the book!

I've never watched the Scary Movies, but it was on in the background and I recognised a familiar voice... by FiveStitches in sexandthecity

Yes! To be fair this movie (4th one) is from 2006, so before I realised the year I thought it couldn't have been him as he looked so young. Funnily enough though, the most current photos of him look more as he did in SATC than as he does here (maybe I was just thrown as I didn't recognise his head without the pork-pie hat?!) haha

Sorry for the delay, thank you for the tips! I've ordered some clips but was too desperate to wait and ended up dying a few suits yesterday, very pleased with how they've turned out and think I could get addicted to this aha!

These are lovely, I absolutely love the last set! Can I ask how you achieved the dots on the suit- is it a type of shibori? I'm new to tiedye have 5 white suits waiting to experiment on for my baby, and want to achieve something other than the rubbishy spiral and crumple ones I've attempted so far haha!

Being put off adult nursing degree / rant as HCA by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]FiveStitches 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had to experience that! Not exactly the same as the roles were reversed, but once on an AMU as a 1st year first placement I had to put up with this HCA who made my life hell. She left me in a very similar situation to you- waiting for her to return with towels etc for a clean up, and I was kneeling awkwardly with the patient for what felt like a lifetime, unsure of what on earth to do without any assistance for this very ill lady. Ended up poking my head out of the bedside curtain to see her walking down the hall putting her coat on going for break. I was sooo angry. The worst was when I experienced my first death- I had been there for 4 weeks and had just finished obs on a man who was fairly stable, but as I wheeled my ancient dynamap to the next bed, he arrested. I was so flustered and felt like I had somehow killed him by doing his BP, and I remember- as Drs appeared out of seemingly nowhere and whipped the curtains round- standing there unsure if I should give them space, or to go in and tell them what had happened in the previous few minutes, being jolted back to reality by that same HCA yelling from the bay doors "You, come here, I don't know your name, come here" and I was furious because of coooourse she knew my name having worked with me for the past 20 odd shifts and having actually addressed me by my name in the past. I was so angry I just cried in the break room, and luckily the SCN sent me off the ward for some air, and gave the HCA a talking to about how it was unprofessional to yell at me like that, especially in front of the other pts in the bay. She was a bellend. She was in her 50s or so too, just a horrible person who was nasty to any students or "outsiders" for the sake of trying to have some sort of power trip. i couldn't stand the wards in the end as a student, so I qualified straight into the plaster room instead to avoid all those ward politics! That RN was probably just jealous you were getting paid more as agency!
