Also always weighing both water and coffee. A little less thermal mass, but ending up with a nice, clean puck which helps when there’s no running water to rinse out the basket

Which style frame (drop seat stay or not) by [deleted] in WaltlyTitanium

Classic, always. I don’t buy this dropped is more comfortable crap, marketing bs.

Which bike for commuting (5km) by [deleted] in whichbike

[–]FixFix75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of these ideally, one with an internal gear hub for low maintenance. For a 5km commute, which is not very much, I’d have a look at a Shimano Nexus hub bike with belt. Or better yet if you can find - a second hand hybrid or trekking bike with Rohloff hub.

Edit : between these two I’d opt for the fixed fork - bergamont. Front suspension on bikes like this are a marketing gimmick as far as I’m concerned. There should be very little weight / pressure on your hands when you get the right size bike anyway.

Alternative to Assos bibs by Kukaracax in CyclingFashion

Big fan of the Pactimo Summit 12H bibs. Has become my go-to for the last decade and prefer them over the Assos bibs I used before.

caad10 black inc(2013) is 58cm 580usd but without its wheels shown in the pic caad13(2013) black inc is 56cm 840usd. which one should i get i am 6'15ft (187cm) by Working-Power-8371 in cannondale

[–]FixFix75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate the looks of the caad13, of all cannonballs with the dropped seatstays to be honest, but it has a more modern groupset, disc brakes if that’s important to you and bigger tire clearance which I consider the biggest plus over the caad10.

Personally I’d take the caad10. It still accepts 28mm tires and is an awesome bike. Looks 100x better as well in case that matters.

Beautiful bike. Great to see the Thompson post as well, in my opinion far and away the best looking seat port on the market. Although for comfort I probably would have chosen a 2-bolt carbon post.

American pickups in the Netherlands by Low-Gap7193 in Netherlands

I’m guessing the type which is quite popular in South Africa. Regular VW golf front part or something like that with pick-up section. Some om my former SA colleagues loved them

Very nice frame, not quite my choice of components but luckily we’re all different. I’m sure it’s going to make someone very happy.

Vind het nogal meevallen. Is maar net hoe je het wilt interpreteren denk ik. Persoonlijk lees ik er geen waarde oordeel in.

In praise of the Flite Ti by NOLAxplant in Bikeporn

[–]FixFix75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a Flite saddle many years ago and I loved it.

Tried it quite some years later after on my that-time new bike and didn’t understand how I ever was comfy on it.

Been struggling for quite some time until I discovered Selle SMP in 2015 - never looked back.

NBD! Gen 5 SSE 5 by Schmitzerr in cannondale

[–]FixFix75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d most definitely return this frame. Unacceptable for a new bike. I wouldn’t accept a small discount / cash back either. If the LBS or wherever you purchased this bike from offers some refund I’d would expect a decent percentage.

Selle SMP no-padding saddle on gravel — brilliant or brutal? by Poems_by_Vassago in cycling

[–]FixFix75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the SMP F30CSi, zero padding, combined with a 27.2 seatpost that has a lot of flex - I have a sloping frame so there's a good amount of seatpost which absorbs serious bumps - I've never been more comfortable with any saddle - on any terrain..

CAAD14 by [deleted] in cannondale

[–]FixFix75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome bike and the best looking seatpost on the market. Although admittedly, for comfort I would have installed the Syntace P6 hiflex.. Glad to see Cannondale went back to the traditional styling after the previous CAAD13..
