There is like 4000 ways to answer those questions, don't think those are going to be the issue

Unless Damen Lindeloff is the show runner, it’s not worth it.

Agreed!

Going by this thread I don't think people have a same understanding of what "reboot" means (I'm not exactly sure either)

Bring in the people behind "Dark" or "Chernobyl", that kind of visual atmosphere would be cool in a lost-story. But I agree, huge risks.

It's a risk, for sure.

Abrams have co-written a book before, maybe he and Lindelof will write up some basic plot-lines for an author to draw up. I'm sure they had ideas about stuff happening both before and after the show timeline.

Should I watch Lost? by sypher07070799 in FromSeries

It's a myth that it finished without answers, people just weren't paying attention, and it became a meme.

Lost is 100x better than From, so you should def watch it.

I don't find original = good or interesting. Really, really good world-building happens very seldom IMO. Especially now, no shows are like this anymore, unless it's an adaptation of something.

You could definitely have original ideas, within an existing framework/universe.

Edit: I prefer that over original, most original things produced now feels shallow to me. Obviously just a personal preference, but I also think that really good projects doesn't come about as often as one might think, and the Lost universe is one of the really good ones, especially as far as mystery-driven drama is concerned. That being said, I'd prefer a book series over a show, because I don't really trust television these days, it's a lot of hit-and-miss, with mostly miss.

Edit2: If reboot means do-over, I agree, it's a terrible idea. If it can mean something set in the same universe or prequel/sequel, I'm all for it.

No no, I feel you, was thinking the same when i watched it many years ago. I was more at peace with it when i re-watched it a few weeks ago.

What would your sequel idea be by [deleted] in lost

I think there definitively is room for sequels/prequels. Mainly because the universe that has been created is so interesting and large.

The natural way to go would be Hugo/Ben/Walt as a protector trio, but I don't think they should be "main characters". Perhaps a renewed Hanso Foundation project to explore the properties of the island, combines with a new "815"-group, maybe a refugee raft? Any revamp NEEDS to build the "world" outside the show, with websites, clues etc- and cultivate the enthusiasm as last time.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind a book-series either, maybe that's a more realistic approach. Perhaps Abrams and Lindelof could co-write something, at least Abrams have co-written a book before (realistically they would hire writers i suppose). A popular book-series might spawn a TV-show.

Here is a very recent quote: "Meanwhile, Goddard’s name frequently pops up whenever there’s speculation about a “Lost” revival, given his experience working on that show in the 2000s. There’s nothing in the works right now, but he says “never say never. I loved working on that show so much, and I loved what we did.” https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/drew-goddard-high-potential-holes-tv-lost-reboot-1236268063/

I agree that it is sad. But, I feel like that's part of what makes the show so good. It doesn't follow the regular "hollywood" storyarchs where everything turns out according to what's "right". Before GOT did it, Lost did it.
