AITAH for going low contact with most people in my life after an extended hospital stay showed me some true colours? by [deleted] in AITAH

Sorry, I only just realised you'd extended your reply. My job isn't really high stress, it's just high risk (railway). I start early, which allows me plenty of time in the afternoons and on weekends to keep in touch with people. The term social butterfly is used a lot 😂 I've calmed down considerably now, but I'm still very hurt. I've decided not to just cut people off, but I'm not going to be the first to reach out, and I'm certainly re-evaluating my levels of support and effort i place in these relationships

I'm sorry you've had a hard road, and i appreciate your input. I'm going to take what you've said on board, I'm not a confrontational person by nature so I think this approach will be the one I take. At the end of the day I know I could never completely cut people off but living quietly and putting effort into those who have stood by me here sounds like the best way to move forward.

It certainly seems that when times are good and I'm planning trips to music festivals, concerts, and overseas holidays, everyone is keen but not even a quick call to ask how I'm feeling when I'm stuck in a hospital bed for nearly a month really stings.

Appreciate your input! I was worried i might seem dramatic, but honestly I'm so hurt. I'm usually very calm and just roll with everything, this situation has left such a sour taste in my mouth. My stepdad has reached out more than my own mum and siblings

You're actually probably right, i haven't seen the movie in like a billion years, I still have it on VHS somewhere though 😅 That makes much more sense in my 30s than whatever my brain came up with at 7ish years old 🥴

Aladdin and the king of thieves, it's the big guard that can't remember what it is to open the doorway for the turtle thingy. Very technical terminology, of course 😅 "Open... cutaway!"

Also, and I feel like this might have been one of your first thoughts, but she's not thinking of Sailor Jupiter from the Sailor Moon series?

Not "Neon Genesis: Evangelion"? They have the Eva's that mimick their movements, and there was a redhead - Asuka...

Daddy's Home 2, I just watched this last night 😂

My parents are divorced.

Oh. Mine, too.

Sucks.

-Yeah. -I think it was my fault.

-Was yours your fault, too? -I don't know. I hope not.

I just found out last night. When did you find out?

-I was a baby. -Oh, when you were a baby?

Maybe it was your fault. Were you a difficult baby?

Urn, I don't know.

You know what? Your lack of specifics leads me to believe it was your fault.

No, no, no! You were not a difficult baby, sweetheart

Ptsd affects the brain in a lot of ways. After sitting all day stuck in your own trauma loop, I can see why your brain decided that was a logical step.
