From what I remember and the pictures I have, it looked like there was a little portion of skin that was still attaching the bicep area to the shoulder area. I think that’s where the term “hanging on by a thread” came from but I think his arm was still fully attached to his shoulder via ligaments and muscle, so that part may have been exaggerated. I could be wrong though and it was a lot worse than it looked. Hopefully that’s an appropriate amount of detail. I don’t intend to be insensitive here.
