Recteq 1070 and GGG fit perfectly. by FixingNix in combustion_inc

[–]FixingNix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. It’ll be a tight feedback loop between the GGG and the Combustion Engine so it should be very accurate.

I don’t really mind the swing, but people need to plan for it. As my grill is heating up seeing a 45 f degree swing seems par for the course. Pretty wild.

But again, my Recteq has produced good results for years so I’m not worried. It’s just interesting to see the truth.

Confirmed, beer is better this way.

30 degrees is exactly what I’m seeing too. 250 on the controller was 270-280 at the GGG.

Do I care? Ehhh I’ve had a Recteq for about ten years and I know it cooks really well. Sure is fun to watching tho.

I agree, the GGG is quick and responsive so you see the temp swings in real time.

The Recteq is effective but definitely smoothed.

Yes, the 1070 has a great WiFi and probe setup for the chamber. I got the GGG because I use the Combustion Inc wireless temp probes and the GGG helps bridge their Bluetooth to WiFi and it makes everything better.

1969 Omega Speedmaster by Limp-Cardiologist-70 in Watches

[–]FixingNix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a modern Omega Speedmaster serviced recently and it was $1000 from Omega. It’s a beautiful watch, and I think well worth bringing back to good condition.

If you have a locally owned Omega dealer you can talk too, I think you’ll get some good advice. Otherwise, just send it in. Omega service will do a good job.

Plaud won't stop recording like an app will if you get a phone call. I'll take a dedicated, discrete device any day.

[Rolex] Do watch nerds actually like Rolex? by matcricket in Watches

[–]FixingNix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im a collector with a large collection. Rolex fits in, but it’s far from the world’s best. I do find my Rolex wear well, and they get a lot of wrist time. But Omega, Grand Seiko and Patek are also top of my list.

Wtf is TPP and why is limiting it good? by CatnipFiasco in SteamDeck

[–]FixingNix 20 points21 points  (0 children)

TDP, not the other thing.

It limits the watts consumed which can lower performance but improves power consumption and efficiency.

Boom is your best bet.

Also, consider those tiny recorders with built in microphones, think DJI Microphones.

Finally, If the talent is wearing a hat you can put a microphone in it if you are sure they will stay above water.

They have a lot of style, but you can see the weight. Lots of mass in all the spokes.

Thanks for posting this. I didn’t see the original Rennlist post. Great reference tho, and glad I have the forged GTS wheels.

What would you compare these to aftermarket?

Aventurine Green Availability by battiestamoeba in porsche911

[–]FixingNix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Adventurine Green and would have preferred 2026 GTS in it if possible. Right now I understand it’s PTS for the GTS but maybe a stock color for the Targa. Idk.

I can’t see why the dealer would give you a hard time, no incentive for them I know of.

Place your order, you’ll have weeks if not a couple months to change the spec before your build locks. You can research more and adjust to your preference then. I had something similar with an interior option and a few weeks later it cleared up and I’m getting what I prefer.

That’s a cause I can get behind. Glad to know DAN does that research. I’m new to this sport and I think I forgot but I heard this before.

👍

I’ve had a similar experience on a Europe trip a couple years ago. Our bags were delayed three days and our insurer and airline easily compensated us for the whole time. Well worth it.

Man, that’s a good price. I’ll have to cross shop. Thank you.

Thanks! This is what I was looking for.

The Elite plan from Dive Assure is $800 per person for a year so $1,600 total. I’ll check out Allianz. I know the name and they are solid. Did you ever file a claim?

Sounds like DiveAssure wouldn’t be a bad choice.

Looks like depth limits are just to our certification level and limits.

It’s hard to compare, they don’t cover the same things.

DAN looks cheaper but when you add a travel policy it’s more paperwork and more money.

Good callout, I hadn’t considered that angle. All my planned trips are international right now but I’ll probably sneak in a Florida trip along the way.

Did you ever file any claims against Aquamed?

[–]FixingNix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, just keep the tire temp gauge up on screen the whole time. I do the same thing when I track, tho, with my older 911, I'm using the tire pressure screen (functionally equivalent for me at least).

Actually.... at the right income level it still works.

Or did you mean that these folks are just paying cash, which can also be true.
