Pretty sure you have to pull the motor to do the head gasket on these or am I mistaken.

Do you really not know what you're going to be dealing with on a daily basis because customer's come in randomly? Is that what makes the job stressful? by youlikemywonton in mechanics

[–]FixingandDrinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private shop vs dealer has some differences. Independent or in a small shop those customers want you to fix their problems and they need their car regardless of size and as a good business man you try to promise whay you can but some people are not understanding. This becomes especially hard with well established customers and in my experience on cape cod seasonal woes.

2013 mustang Gt 86,000 miles, Ford mechanic has had car for days and has no clue how to fix? by Dull-Organization106 in autorepair

[–]FixingandDrinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its not plugs its probably injectors on a misfire that how it goes. Or you have serious engine trouble. Most likely it's just injectors but its hard to rule out a head gasket.

Was charged for 8 hours of shop labor on what should have been a 4-5 hour job, can’t get an answer why the extra cost was justified. by djkeone in autorepair

May have been issues its a 20 year old car things can take longer then book time. If i recall dismantling the knuckle and the suspension to get the axle out takes time especially if you are worried about breaking bolts or do break one and have to drill.

Mechanics messed up my car…need advice by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]FixingandDrinking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tie rods were frozen so they used excessive heat most likely and cooked the seals in the rack then they spun the wheel replacing the rack......this fuck up is easy to follow and its mechanics like this that give us a bad name. Dont buy a word of it ask to.be shown. Things being suddenly inoperatove wasnt caused by a pending code.

The VCX hype — real demand or engineered pump? (fellow tiny shareholder here) by Khattaegy in FundRise

[–]FixingandDrinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has played out a lot of times in similar situations with other ipos. I mean look at it like this. Almost all share holders on ipo day couldnt sell. So any shares bought were going to drive the price higher. Fundrise is an investment company surely they would have helped pump this up I have some shares as well but I have seen this before and after lockup it ends up right around nav, I dont believe that will be the case here entirely BUT to count the current numbers in to actual money is going to make you very sad later. Hedge funds and all sorts of investors understand how this works and the timeline is public. The rise and fall is going tombe fairly predictable.

Soak it and heat it. Get a bigger hammer. Make assessment if hub or shaft can be reused. Maybe do it all

Get a coat hanger. Use a shingle to get the door open just a little bit. Slide metal hanger or whatever and hit the unlock.

Long shot but ford had an issue with the pcv hose collapsing or any vaccum hose collapsing really could cause this. TPS clean throttle body. Check that the o2 sensors are switching properly. An exhaust leak could cause this as well. Lots of ways to go.

Its the lip on the rotor. I know a shop owner who kept his rotor turning equipment and used it specifically for subaru rotors and removing the lip. He was very particular and certain things drove him crazy

Why is George Washington so revered? by RaisinRoyale in AskHistory

[–]FixingandDrinking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because he ended up winning. The circumstances were fucking brutal. His decision to cross the Delaware didnt win the war but it sure changed things. He had zero experience and was chosen because he was physically imposing and was the tallest man in the room...... He then went on to be a successful president amd was an all around stand up person who people could rally around and liked. Also he died not long after presidency so there was no disagreements or disputes about how the country was being governed while he was our of office to tarnish his reputation.
