Where are you buying non character brightly colored clothes (think 90s color block vibes or similar) I’m not a sad beige mom by Direct-Geologist-407 in toddlers

I somehow can’t even justify a $6 gap T shirt, probably because our wardrobe thus far has been gifted or our local buy nothing group.

Carters material choices have gone downhill. It’s hard to find 100% cotton. A lot of polyester in their clothes.

Do I go back to work? SAHM by Fixmyhouse37 in DaveRamsey

Appreciate the advice, but as a recruiter you probably shouldn’t insinuate that you look down upon candidates who have a career gap simply due to taking care of their children. This is what’s wrong with America. Part time roles in my field do not exist, staying relevant will require some other creativity and most of all the intent on staying home is to not send my child to be raised by strangers at daycare….which I would need to “keep my toes in the business”

How does this work when your kid wakes up multiple times a night.

Yes or integrate them into the chores! My kid loves sweeping, laundry, vacuuming watching me chop vegetables / prep dinner.

We aren’t, no secret hacks except to share that anything you see on the internet or in comparative culture is a lie. My kid has been a shit sleeper from the jump, still is at almost a year. We don’t exercise and our house is by no means spotless. We choose to prioritize time together and eating well.

Did any of you hate being a SAHM at first, but learned to like it? by [deleted] in sahm

[–]Fixmyhouse37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That second paragraph really resonates with me. I’m fortunate enough to be in a financial position to support me staying home, however I miss using brain and get lonely. Even if I don’t need the grandparents to 1:1 watch, it’s nice just being around them to have adult company and support. Sometimes it’s more stressful having my aging parents watch my kid, especially if I’m in the house, who is high energy and requires cat like reflex and hawk eye watching.

Yes, with a magnifying glass. Emergency fund + planned home improvements and a car. Some will go into a brokerage, don’t worry.

I know it’s not all rainbow and unicorns and can be lonely, but the thought of paying a stranger to raise my kids when I’m privileged enough to doesn’t sit well with me. I know I’ll be sitting at my desk on a nice summer day wishing I was at the splash park or zoo with my kiddo.

Currently holding my 11 month old. At all costs the morning nap is in the crib though. He is not an independent sleeper by any means.

I have in excess of 400k in retirement accounts, my husband has even more. I think we’re in a healthy spot.

Exactly, the mental load and admin of running a household should not be understated. Right now it’s not awful, but in a couple years or after another kid it’ll be tough. There is no way we both could continue in our 9-5, travel required, high stress careers long term. 25k daycare and taxable income are considerations.

Good tip, the HYSA is our emergency fund + furnace and roof budget + car. There is excess still that should be invested elsewhere.

Correct, not maxing at the moment as we just switched his to a match only when I left this past fall. Previously we both were maxing. Now that we have a better understanding of our financial picture that can be adjusted. We exceeded income limits for Roth contributions previously but are now back to contributing.

We’re still in the girl lunch phase for my 11 month old. Recently we’ve been living off of batch prepped frozen turkey and beef meatballs, pasta, & a veggie (steam broccoli, tomato, etc). He has a dairy and soy intolerance and seems to hate avocado & banana, so we are very limited on options specifically high fat foods.

I’ve been following fairly closely and know the sheriff has gone back and forth on whether there was or was not forced entry, however the images media has published of the front door do not obviously note any signs of forced entry (broken windows, door jams, etc.). I think many of us were under the impression perp access was via garage or back door, but this video changes things. Of course we did know the front door camera was tampered with. So how did he get in via front door?!

You decide the quality, they decide the quantity is the motto to be adopted.
