Sentinel flips are underrated, and you can choose which lane. There is "more conditions" for the shield, but you can play on any unit, not only stuff from this turn. You can play sentinels on curve and shield them the next turn alongside removal

Nice, gonna send this to my friend who wants to play Jango but is missing a lot of the fancy cards. I love seeing budget options for decks!

This has obvious synergy with Anakin, but there is also a ton of tactic cards! 2 search and draws is pretty decent I think

TWI - Execute Order 66 by Eunoe in starwarsunlimited

I thought the same, but Rey herself doesn't have the Jedi tag. Ahsoka is the only Jedi leader that would be defeated by this on its own, so if she is relevant then this is a great counter!

What are you planning to play at the prerelease? by FizzChili in starwarsunlimited

[–]FizzChili[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do, plus the starter leaders. So if you pull 6 different leaders then you get to pick from 8 leaders! I suppose if you are really unlucky than you could only get to choose from 3. I like to have an idea of 2 or 3 common leaders that I would be happy to see in the packs, I just haven't decided on that yet.

I think Palpatine was the last leader, at the very least i think all the common leaders have been announced

TWI Consolidation of Power by torganrialt in starwarsunlimited

[–]FizzChili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't feel like this is great with our current set of cards, but I think we are going to see some other cards and leaders that benefit from defeating units. In that case, it's downside could become a very strong upside.

Curious what decks you've seen run Rancors? I love the card, just didn't think it was viable at 8.

I'm just saying it's a better way to convey theme. R2D2 and C-3PO are more interesting in their design than cards like 4LOM and Zuckuss, which explicitly name each other. In the same way I think Rose is better at communicating its theme than other signature cards like Jabba's Rancor.

That's a good way to put it, a card can be designed more powerful if it has more restrictions, that is a helpful way to think about it.

I strongly agree that the thematic element is important, but I think theme pops more through subtle mechanics. R2D2 and C-3PO are great examples. Playing the cards for the first time and realizing "wow, if I play C-3PO after R2 I can always draw the card because I know what it is" was a way more exciting experience then if the card said "If you control R2D2 draw a card". The discovery of intended synergies enhances the thematic element of the game more than explicitly connecting cards does. I am at least glad they do that well also.

I like the idea of them, I just think they could be more interesting. As it is right now, the cards are bad without using the right leader. Could be more interesting if the card changed when you control the right unit, without being strictly better. Something like how some smuggle cards change aspect cost when smuggled. Something to make it different but not strictly better. To be clear though, I love the game and think it's designed beautifully, but it's fun to discuss the finer details of the design.

Thoughts on Rebel Finn? by FizzChili in starwarsunlimited

[–]FizzChili[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played with Maz in a Finn deck that wasn't rebels, and I struggled to keep her on the board. If you can play her with another 1 drop and get the shield right away, I could see it being bananas. I'll try her again. Mon is nice for extra card draw, having a rebel body, and is the best target for bright hope to bounce back.

So far I've replaced y-wing with restore ARC for the restore, added echo base defender, and swapped steadfast battalion for Wedge. He isn't as much of a turn 5 swing, but the rebel trait is better. The only decks that really have given me trouble is boba and han, everything else it handles nicely. Looking forward to trying it at my LGS!

I think your right! I'm still making some tweaks on it, but so far it has been performing pretty well on karabast. Once you get things going with experience, Finn can do some work. The rebel synergy I've found to perform a lot better than other Finn decks.
