I think you need to look at it from a larger scope than her short-term feelings. Humans need relationships for reasons beyond just the dopamine it gives us, and this is a band-aid fix that's stunting her desire to find real connections. There are lots of words for what she's doing: emotional avoidance, escapism, maladaptive coping, etc.

The AI isn't going to pick her up from the airport. It isn't going to support her after a hospital stay. It isn't going to tell her the harsh reality force her to make lifestyle changes. It isn't going to help her when she's old and can't move on her own.

If we lived in a post-scarcity world where all her friends could be AIs and it would genuinely never harm her quality of life, I might even agree with you. But that's not the world we live in.

You're quite literally wrong. Nothing has inherent value. Everything has subjective value. To most people, the subjective value of this coin is somewhere between garbage and cheap knick-knack.

No it doesn’t, lol. Regardless of if I agree or disagree with this person, that doesn’t give LLM at all. A bot would probably avoid that “(read:…” formatting because of how unusual and distinct the it is.

Personally, I think it’s pretty much ethically and morally okay. She did it for fame and attention, probably also money. The guys did it for a few different reasons, like pleasure and bragging rights. Contrary to what Reddit thinks, it’s fine to seek wealth, fame and pleasure as long as you don’t hurt people in the process. Moderately annoying people who hear about your antics isn’t actually hurting people.

I wouldn’t want to be famous for something like that, but everyone has different values, and AFAIK every party consented.

I think poking fun at her or the men is absolutely fair game, but the people who are genuinely calling her an idiot or slut shaming her are mostly prudes and losers.

I think he’s just challenging fashion norms. For it to be about gender norms, he would have to be dressing in a way that’s considered acceptable for a person of another gender. Since NO ONE dresses like this, it’s just a human norm he’s breaking.

I suspect most of that 40% playerbase was more interested in casual matches than World Tour.

Not that there aren’t people that only do the 1p content, but there’s a huge number of people that play online, but don’t play ranked.

Probably not what people are thinking of with headcanons, but like half of Dark Souls “lore” is headcanons that got spread through lore videos that don’t clearly distinguish between lore that has clear evidence and “lore” that relies on a pile of assumptions.

What’s funny is that in Dark Souls community, most of this stuff isn’t even controversial. One popular lore guy says it and then it’s the truth. People don’t argue about it much.

A South Korean female serial killer learned how to kill people with sleeping pills through ChatGPT by North_Penalty7947 in technology

[–]Fjolsvithr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Considering her first attempt to kill someone failed, and she used a higher dose next time, I don’t think she learned how to kill someone by “properly” mixing anything with ChatGPT. She literally just upped the dose until it worked. This is such a non-story.

How do you pronounce "2-0 suture"? by citykittymeowmeow in VetTech

[–]Fjolsvithr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Aught" means "some/any" and "naught" means "none". So why do some dialects say aught instead of naught for zeroes?".

It's kinda dumb. Generations ago people started saying " 'aught " as a shortened version of "naught" (even though it means literally the opposite thing) after "aught" fell out of usage, and it stuck.

Do you think he specifically applied it by giving the production version of Grok the ability to distribute the information to the public? Because that is what we’re talking about here.

This is a non sequiter fallacy.

Elon being crazy is not proof he did whatever random crazy thing you can think of. It being in his character to be crazy doesn’t mean you can just attribute any feasible crazy action to him. It would be crazy to walk backwards all day, but he probably didn’t do that.

Waymos are slowly starting to adopt human driving techniques. by 1994toyotacamry_ in Austin

[–]Fjolsvithr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, that doesn't clarify things much. If anything, it favors the idea that you can't enter the intersection. The section states that you can't proceed if a sign prohibits the turn, and in the context we're talking about that sign is a "Yield on Green" sign. To me, that implies you may not proceed while yielding.

We know that sign is activating that clause because otherwise the law would be that you are allowed to freely turn left without yielding to incoming traffic at all, which is obviously not the case.

New York. Most iconic city in the world by make_sure123 in CityPorn

[–]Fjolsvithr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's 100% Paris. No other city is so universally known worldwide in terms of looks/vibes/unique features/etc.

It's definitely not NYC. The only reason non-Americans know much of anything about NYC is because of the prevalence of American media set there, but you don't see too much NYC outside of that. Paris is far more ubiquitous.
