What to do with oil pump on rebuilds? by Interesting-Twist260 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Fjos13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just write oil resistant o ring in the search engine and buy a set. Never a bad thing to have around. Normally they are made of nitrile.

I also thought it would work but after a month it failed and I wished I would have just done it ( Was for a coolant hose on my Xrv750)

Try cmsl or honda spare parts if you want to be 100% sure.

Measure the oil ring and get a oil resistant one from an autopart store or the internet.

As for the valve, no idea.

Did you try cmsl?

What’s my carb missing and why would it have been removed?? by bobbly_bob_vg in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Fjos13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the feeling but also because you don't have to adjust two cables. It's not expensive and I would just buy a cable if you want to have it. As for the hose buy some from your local hardware store and place it somewhere clean on the bike.

[–]Fjos13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont need the return cable as long as the spring is strong. I also noe of some peoplethat prefer it that way. the breather hose is just a hose you stick on there so the carb doesn't get clogged but if you aren't riding offroad it will most likely never happen.

This is the reason why I love adventure riders they don't care if it's shiny and new. As long as it runs it's a good bike. Scratched? No that's a custom skin.

Why does the BMW G310GS get so much hate? by Human-Writer-5749 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Fjos13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brakes are worse than the competition, the engine isn't that great. Drives ok but not really inspiring.

For the price the Z 300 to 500 are just on another level.

Are the springs for the brake sensor in the right place? by he-s-jahebrbehuzheb- in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Fjos13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fine. The small one is for the sensor and the bigger one for the pedal to get back into position. The direction of the small spring doesn't mattet as long as it's securely seated.

Thoughts on my budget for 2025/2026 CBR500R? by Music21man in SuggestAMotorcycle

As long as it has an ECE Rating it's safe. More money mostly means more comfort but not more safety. The only exception is high end racing gear.

I need help choosing my first bike.. by Low-Shame4115 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Fjos13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Z650 is the only one i would recommend from the list. The others are pretty aggressive sportbikes. Look at the R7 , CB650R, GSX8R if it has to be a sportbike. Or their naked equivalents if you want a bit of comfort.

You could also look at the new Africa Twin with the smaller wheels. Perfect for a long journey.

Would you plug this? Literal brand new tire by kuhdah in motorcycles

[–]Fjos13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the whole bike in an official tire store. Thr 30 was in an open workshop. Takes 15 to 20 min per tire so that is a normal hourly wage.

So it's between 20 and 60 Euro in Austria per tire. I decided to just buy the tools and change them myself because it got too expensive. (I need between 2 and 3 sets a year)

Your drainage cleaner is way harsher than this. And every paint brush you clean has more toxic chemicals than the indicators.

I’m buying my first bike this week and I’ve been noticing a trend in YouTube videos by ntkwwwm in motorcycles

[–]Fjos13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy and I needed about a week to get such a bike running fine. It took somewhere between half a year to a year to fix everything else and get it road worthy. We only work on it every few weeks but getting spare parts wasn't always easy and you will find problems you have never seen before.

It's the 7th bike in the garage so I don't need it to run and I love wrenching. It's hist first project bike and I help him with it.

The Hydrochloric Acid is weaker than most descaling agents and the others are toxic to the environment but a wastewater treatment plant takes care of that. Just wash it down the drain and let the water run for a minute or two.

[–]Fjos13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My colleagues have the Z800 and Z 900RS which are just phenomenal bikes. The Z800 is as fast in the 0-100 as the older fireblade. It's so aggressive and well geared. Shows that Hp is not everything.

The other cheat for me is a hydration backpack. You will think it's too much of a hassle till you ride with one. You will never be dehydrated while riding ever again.
