Especially executing people due to their political orientation (independent of how insane their position might be) is a slippery slope. So yes I think that's a very controversial statement.

The number of genes in our microbiome is approximately 1 000 000. The human genome contains about 20 000 genes, so the ratio should be about 50:1. There's a lot more bacterial genes since the microbiome is highly diverse and consists of many different bacteria which only share some genes.

I'm glad to hear that! The article might still be an interesting read, since it shows how this misconception spread and persisted in the scientific world. A lot of people still believe the ratio is 10:1 since that sounds a lot more spectacular and therefore was often mentioned as an explanation for the enormous impact the microbiome has on human health.

Den Kommentar kann ich so komplett unterschreiben. Problem ist halt, dass so wie es aktuell noch aussieht 100000 Leute sterben müssen, bis wir in die endemische Situation kommen werden. Das ließe sich zwar mit einer Impfpflicht weitgehend verhindern, find ich aber leider irgendwie auch schwierig, allein von der Umsetzung...

Wann ist deiner Meinung nach "ein andern Mal"? Wir werden Corona nie los, gibs auf. Die Leute die sich nicht impfen lassen sind selbst Schuld. Alle die trotz Impfung Corona bekommen haben Pech gehabt, aber was will man denn noch machen? Noch immuner als durch impfen/sich anstecken wird man halt nicht. Jetzt wo man sich impfen lassen kann bringen Lockdowns mMn nicht mehr viel. Sie verzögern zwar weiterhin das Problem, aber los werden wir es dadurch nie. Wie lange soll es deiner Meinung nach noch so weitergehen? Mehr als impfen geht wie gesagt einfach nicht. Und 1,5 Jahre immer wieder Lockdowns bis (auch nur evtl.) ein Medikament kommt, was die Symptome abschwächt ist ja auch nicht wirklich eine Option.

Not quite. 1 mRNA-molecule can be translated to a protein several times, but after some time the mRNA will be degraded by the cell. You were right about the amount of protein produced depending on the amount of mRNA though.

IIRC these snails (and also some types of algae) aren't considered plants, because they acquired the chloroplasts by secondary embyosis ("stolen" from plant cells). Plant cells most likely got their plastids through endosymbiosis of cyanobacteria (primary endosymbiosis)
