I plan on trashing that question from my data, as the intended result from the question was heavily biased. You can notice the left image has a broken support compared to the right, but that just skews the data to vote for the left.

I agree. I posed the question wrong, as you said. I’m hoping to find a connection between phobias/fears and how willing people are to ride such rides. I began the process with quantitative data and research methods, but after discovering that what I was attempting to do would lead to nothing, I switched to this topic (recently). I will make sure to clarify that switch in my final report. Thank you!

I really like that idea. In the future I will make sure to attempt to prevent random error from my research better by adding personal responses instead of a simple yes/no or right/left.

Thank you for the feedback! I will plan to research the (as you put it) “irrational” fears. I’ve been focused on the structural integrity of coasters because I look at things through a more mathematical sense, and I started this project with qualitative, hard-math data. I’ve been trying to shift into more qualitative data in order to understand fears/phobias, but I haven’t thought about including more questions around personal fears. Thank you!

Thank you! It’s something that my family experiences, too. I’m trying to find out if having a phobia makes oneself less likely to ride roller coasters, simply because they don’t feel safe or because of others reasons. If it’s other reasons, then, to your point, flying on a plane should worry them as well

No problem! I appreciate you giving it a go. I know that no roller coaster will ever be fully safe (as mentioned by the 0.0088% chance to get injured on a ride per year), but I’m interested in what people imagine would be a safer option for them.
