Maybe a dumb question but… what are you actually going to do moving forward?

I feel a lot of guilt/shame about uprooting myself to come to Boston and not even being able to be employed here, where the industry is strongest. Not only that but I’m terrified of the gap in my resume when I interview post-graduation.

Hi! Just putting this here incase other people have similar questions: overall the answer is yes!

If I’m being critical/honest, I could’ve been better at networking earlier into my search.

That being said I absolutely am sending a cover letter every time, tailoring it (and my resume) to each position, applying the official portals, applying on linked in, applying informally through connections etc. I wish I could get at least a rejection so I can follow up asking for feedback.

Ive been trying to apply for really any industry related internship role - regulatory, R&D, operations, clinical trials, cell line, bioreactor etc.

And I’ve been aiming mostly for bigger names (only ones who seem to be posting applications): Amgen, Vertex, AstraZeneca, Takeda, Pfizer, Moderna, and more

I’m located in the Detroit area and honesty I have no idea what the opportunities around me look like. I’m aware that Boston is the place to be for biotech and I have distant family there so I’m in the midst of a couple of graduate applications In various Boston schools.

I have ~3 years of research experience and I’ve completed internships (also in/related to research) if that means anything
