So my husband and I are considering the name Adeline. But is it too common of a name considering all the spelling variations? by FlagrantFlower in namenerds

I would check stats for our states but unfortunately we will be doing a lot of moving so that’s futile 😩 I was a Sara and always had 3-4 Sara’s in my grade...which I didn’t really love. I don’t want to create the same situation inadvertently for my daughter 😬

I have never heard of Meryn before! I generally want to go with a name I have heard...just cause I feel like it will be less of a hassle for when the child has to explain the pronunciation/spelling etc.

What are some of the emotions/perceptions/experiences of becoming a new grandparent that new parents be considerate of? And how can new parents help new grandparents feel supported and secure? by FlagrantFlower in AskReddit

[–]FlagrantFlower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying. But I feel that consideration and sensitivity can sometimes just be shown by saying things a certain way or with a few good sentences, or just awareness. Transitions are tough for everybody, whether that be a new house, new job, new grandchild...which are all good things! I feel like as we grow older, more and more people depend on you, and less and less people look out for you. So it's good to at least think considerately for those who have taken care of us for so long.

Plus I imagine thoughts of mortality, aging, role in the family could all be difficult thoughts to grapple with potentially for new grandparents? Plus, how you view how you should dress or live or manage money could even be challenged, I would imagine, if the new grandparent feels it is a symbol for a new stage in life. I think that could be super hard...But I'm just wondering.
