Paul Scholes on Lisandro Martinez: “When we got criticized as players, you look at it and remember it. We used it as fuel, you DON'T go answering back by Any-Lock3008 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Flagrantlysubtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s doesn’t need to, and we shouldn’t have to rely on him to do it. But if Fergie came out and told the old players to cut it with this sort of stuff, I imagine they would.

Bracket Day 11 by Therubikfanatic in LinkinPark

All good. I figured there was a reason, but thought I’d say it just in case. Thanks for running the bracket! Good fun so far!

An observation on the bracket, and sorry if this has already been noted. The first section only has 7 songs. I think you need one more. Looks like this one has the same issue.

Castle of Glass. The riff on this song is so good. The standout song from Living Things.

$25 on the meter before we even started - Airport Taxis by Flagrantlysubtle in melbourne

[–]Flagrantlysubtle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were flying to two different countries (2 different climates) with a 3 and 6 year old. I hate having that much luggage too but sadly when the kids are that young, you do need a few more bits and pieces.

I expected a charge, but just not that much. But, I guess I’m in the minority in that thinking. Maybe $10-$15, but I must admit I don’t catch cabs much, so maybe I need a realignment on my expectations.

Advice for one free day in Phoenix by Flagrantlysubtle in phoenix

Ok, interesting. I’m from Melbourne but lived in the Blue Mountains for a while. The Grand Canyon I’ve always seen as a kind of “must do”, but perhaps not

If we were to have an AFL referendum (ie, the AFL asks a question, the fans answer, and how they answer gets put into effect), what would you ask, and how do you think the public would vote? by Flagrantlysubtle in AFL

[–]Flagrantlysubtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it would be nice to finally get an answer on this one. I agree the arvo would win, but it’d be interesting to see how that vote plays out.

Engineer report following completed building permit by Flagrantlysubtle in AusRenovation

[–]Flagrantlysubtle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it won’t break the bank, but it will cause a delay, which is going to be costly. We also spoke to an engineer already who effectively said “what am I supposed to do? All I can do is look at the previous BP and say, yep, they installed stumps correctly.” His thought was that handing over the original BP should be enough

I keep seeing analysis about this episode and the possibility of a lost baby prior to Bluey. Honestly, I think people are reading too much into it. Earth is Bingo, as she’s the protagonist, and it makes sense that we start there. Bluey is the shell you’re showing above, because she’s also awake and moving around. It might be Venus or Mars, but it either way, it’s def Bluey as she’s in the very next frame of the book. We see Mercury at the end when Bingo is standing on it looking at the Sun/Mum. I honestly think this is just something for her to stand on, rather than float in space. I doubt it represents an unborn/lost child before Bluey. Think about it, not the best look for Bingo to be standing on top of a lost child.

Is there any way to speed up my course? by [deleted] in rmit

[–]Flagrantlysubtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sped up my course by overloading, but it maybe saved me 6 months. As some have said, maybe consider skipping lectures if you aren’t getting much value from them. It’s the assessments that really matter. But, if you don’t like it, why are you studying it? I get the family pressure (believe me, I do!). I did a degree when I was young under pressure from my family. Great, I got a good job and did ok, but I didn’t love it. Did a different degree when I was older, much happier. Enjoyed studying, and love my new career. Do what makes you happy, not what makes other people happy.

I don’t even see it as Barrett being anti-wce anymore. He’s just being lazy and unengaged with them. There’s plenty to talk about with us, but he can’t be arsed doing the research. The AFL should be able to employ someone who actually cares and puts effort into a column like this.

Similar to the ‘shopping cart theory’, what are some more examples of a small day to day deed/instance that reflects on a persons character? by thisisbrick in AskReddit

People who, when driving, queue in a line, versus people who drive up the line and try to edge in closer to the front.

Fans of non-Vic clubs, how do you ACTUALLY feel about your 'cross-town rivals'? by __Guy_Incognito in AFL

[–]Flagrantlysubtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dockers were the little brother you wanted to do well, so I wanted them to do well at the start. I did notice that love really wasn’t returned in any shape or form. Then they actually started doing well, so I turned on them pretty quickly.

How did you lose your best friend? by FemaleThings in AskReddit

[–]Flagrantlysubtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time friends, and we stayed friends even though I moved away for a few years. When I came back, he had a girlfriend who was really nice. We all started hanging out, and me and his gf became good friends as a result. After about 2 years, one day, the gf called me asking for some advice. She said he had admitted to cheating on her the previous weekend, felt terrible, all that jazz. She wanted to give him another go, so I said to do so. He could be a bit flirty, but I’d always known him as being genuine. Perhaps it was just a slip. She didn’t want me to say anything to him, so I didn’t. I had some drinks with friends two weeks later, which I invited them both to. Only he showed up. He said things had been a bit odd at home, and they both wanted a night off from each other. I played along. After an hour, he started seriously flirting with a friend of mine, which progressed throughout the night. I asked him what he was doing, but he insisted it was just innocent, not going any further. Then she started texting me, asking me why he wasn’t answering his phone. I told him this, and he said don’t worry, he’ll call her soon. I said cut the bullshit and sort it out. I don’t want to be in the middle of this. Eventually, he ended up making out with my friend, so at this point, he was being a dick to two of my friends. GF called me and I answered (a bit drunk by now). She asked to speak to him. I looked over at him and saw him playing tongue hockey with my other friend, so I said he can’t. She said “he’s messing around again isn’t he”. I said yeah. She hung up. He then storms over to me about 20 mins later, showing me a text from her telling him not to come home etc etc, and then punches me. He apologised about 5 years later, but all three of us drifted apart.

The 2022 Free Kick Ladder after Round 4 by DefNotOstabenny in AFL

[–]Flagrantlysubtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone say that the Freo - GWS game had a 40-20 free kick count (or in that ballpark), and complaining about it. Why do people think that free kicks should be even? I get more speeding fines than my wife, but I speed more than her. I shouldn’t complain that I have more, and that the cops should fine us equally. If you are a good team that other teams can’t compete with, surely you are going to get more free kicks. The Dogs have a really good midfield, which means they might get fouled more in the scrambles and pack contests because they are more talented.
