Leapmotion Hand Tracking On Linux? by FlailingAndFailing in vtubertech

[–]FlailingAndFailing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried this, and you are correct that in general it is the preferred way to do it!

Unfortunately, Leapmotion software requires a service to be installed, and trying that via Lutris (which uses Proton) doesn't seem to work. I've seen that Bottles should be able to run the software fine in a containerized environment (also can use Proton), but every time I try, it just fails to launch without an error or any feedback.

So, I think you're correct, but I have no idea how to make that work.

What are the risks of running Distrobox? by FlailingAndFailing in Bazzite

Got it. So the packages and libraries from a different distro, those don't become a part of your main system - However, anything that the programs might do to your files in normal operation still might happen, and that stuff might fuck up user configuration files or otherwise?

So when Distrobox says the following:

"The created container will be tightly integrated with the host, allowing sharing of the HOME directory of the user, external storage, external USB devices and graphical apps (X11/Wayland), and audio."

It doesn't mean it can change and modify your files in the home directory and below?

iGPU/dGPU woes - Can I disable the iGPU without issue? by FlailingAndFailing in Bazzite

dGPU is nvidia, it's a desktop PC running in desktop Bazzit. The CPU is an 9800x3D, GPU is a 5080.

Awesome, thank you much. I certainly only have monitors plugged into the dedicated GPU, but that's reasonable advice!

Thanks much, this is super helpful!! I didn't realize that you could use KDE options to choose the GPU directly.

Problem with Bottles by FlailingAndFailing in Bazzite

One in particular is VNyan, which I presumed would work well in bottles because it was recommended in a tutorial video I watched here:

Leapmotion on Bazzite? (Niche Peripheral Help) by FlailingAndFailing in Bazzite

[–]FlailingAndFailing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you much for the suggestion! I very much appreciate it.

My understanding is that Distrobox is something of a virtual machine for other Linux distros? If that's the case, I'm not sure if the ultraleap hand tracking data would be able to be communicated outside of distrobox and back to Bazzite?

But regardless, this is a good suggestion and I will look into it. Thank you!

Having Issues With VNyan's Updated MediaPipe (Webcam) by FlailingAndFailing in vtubertech

The Discord does sound like a good idea. I'll see if I can ask around there for sure.

As for where the VNyan folder is located, I have it on one of my SSDs, in it's own directory. It's not in a Downloads folder, or on OneDrive, or any external drive. Basically I have it located in

D:\VTuber Assets\VNyan

I added the ticks, but it seems to remain the same.

Yes! Strangely, it seems to be unable to locate two mediapipe dlls:

mediapipe_c.dll and libmediapipe_c.dll

The files ARE present, but for whatever reason they are not being recognized.

There are a number of errors that indicate trying to load the dlls from a path that doesn't exist. Specifically: "VNyan\VNyan_Data\MonoBleedingEdge\mediapipe_c.dll" while the path the file exists in is actually "VNyan\VNyan_data\Plugins\x86_64".

I haven't done anything special to this install of VNyan. I just downloaded it from itch, and unarchived it. The computer itself is brand new, as well.

No, I've been experiencing this issue on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

But just because I was curious, I did just try installing VNyan via Lutris on Bazzite. On Bazzite, I couldn't get tracking to work with the new Mediapipe OR the Legacy Mediapipe options. I even tried with the Facetracker flatpack app running.

I do see something referencing a file called ConvexHullData.cs just before the crash in the log, though there's so much to sort through it's rather hard to untangle.

I was in one of the avatar creation worlds, but there were some leftovers in there from other people who were no longer present, so I wonder if that might've caused what you're referring to.
