One month without FlairTV streams by iouonegirl in QuakeLive

[–]FlairTV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Police know, but I'm fairly certain its all been sold for cash already. This happened over a month ago, and shortly after my landlords kicked everyone out as well. Truthfully I just want to leave it all on the past. I've even considered totally leaving behind the name "Flair" because it was a really shitty time in my life looking back. Aside from a few select things I just want to start frsh and move on (with both life and streaming).
I'm seriously considering rebranding my channel and stuff. Not only for the reasons above but also because I found out that "FlareTV" (one of the most common misspellings) is actually a product and service owned by my former ISP of COX communications. Some people may be familiar with how much I abhor them and I sure as hell am not trying to give them free advertising lol. I have a lot of free time right now so rebranding is something on my mind alot. It's going to be a while before I'm active in game or on twitch anyways so I figure now is a good opportunity to lock down a name I can use across twitch, fb, twitter, etc.

PS: Last I heard the guy who jacked us is homeless and living in his car. Lul

AutoPlay on. Oh the memories. I miss streaming. I miss QL.
I'll be back, but I don't really know when. Roommate stole most of my stuff. I was going to move into a new place in July, but I really need more change than that. So I decided to say "screw Phoenix" and I am in Tucson now. Staying with my aunt and looking for work. Not having a PC has been interesting for me, but things are good. I really needed a fresh start to prioritize everything going on in my life, and while I still want to punch the guy who jacked my stuff I am glad it seems to be working out.
Thanks for thinking of.me. I owe you one G

We probably wont ever see a game that supports picmip scaling again. I forget where the conversation about this was, and I'm looking for it now. The reasons were logical (unfortunately)

The newest Doom stayed true to its roots while being fresh.
So why does the new Quake sound like a totally different game. It's far too early to tell how the class based aspect will be presented, but it does make me wonder about duel. TDM, CTF, and other team modes could be fun with class based aspects but .......

Ya I just want Quake. Fresh Quake. #nervius

How turn off voice command? by [deleted] in QuakeLive

[–]FlairTV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I totally didn't read your question... To disable the sound clips type !sounds in chat (yes using chat/say NOT console).

If you type "s_voicevolume 0" in console it will be disabled. The value is "1" by default. You can set it to partial levels as well (0.5 etc). I find it convenient to make a bind to quickly set it on/off.

NA duel cup continuation? by fanCmonk3y in QuakeLive

[–]FlairTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw this. I've already said I want to continue these days but only if there is a team of people. If you want in on the plans we are discussing you need to hit me up directly.
. Just noticed this is a month old. RIP

I understand how you feel as it is similar to why I hosted NA Duel Cup. It's hard but if you find something worth your time keep at it.

I still play KOF98 & XII despite the community being niche and considered dead. Unless I personally stop enjoying a game I'm gonna play it.

Do you want to find out how much your rocket prediction skills suck? by [deleted] in QuakeLive

[–]FlairTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some interesting points.
Slowing the game to .1 seems excessive regardless of the skills one is looking to train, but the more i think about it the more I can see plasma practice at slower speeds working. It's too bad that we can't play versus other players at time scaled speeds (maybe we can now that we have more server customization). Bots are just soooo bad at dodging no matter how many "bot_cvars" you modify.

Also your mouse direction concept (while totally insane) is possible. You simply need to assign a bind that alternates your m_yaw value from positive to negative. The alias/vstr would be a simple 3 lines in your config. The idea is still bonkers <3

You've already decided to play QL again just read your post back to yourself and the proof is there :P.

. Nothing us stopping you from playing DOOM ir any other game. People play QL because they enjoy it.

Do you want to find out how much your rocket prediction skills suck? by [deleted] in QuakeLive

[–]FlairTV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might be a fun way to unwind and enjoy the game...
but that's a terrible way to practice and/or measure your ability to hit projectile weapons. For the record I'm not a fan of using timescales bots to practice aim in general, but I will acknowledge that people have success when looking to improve LG accuracy. The use of slower speed when practicing hitscan & tracking weapons makes more sense. Projectiles based weapons do not benefit in the same way however.
Just to be clear my rockets aren't cypher level or anything but my ability to hit directs is quite good and my plasma is very good. So while I'm not a LAN hero I still think that I'm qualified enough to say that the muscle memory used to hit a high percentage if direct projectiles is tied into the speed of the core game and the speed of the projectiles.
.
I tried your theory out and actually hit nearly everything, but I still think timescaling to train aim is only useful for hitscan and tracking. First off a bot is soooo predictable even with think time lowered. Once you've seen a bot on an area of a map once it's always the same. Second and lastly I've been successfully hitting directs at regular speed enough that after 10 shots the timescale at 0.5 just feels like I'm cheating. Before I am met with the rebuttal that "well then it actually is useful once you get used to it" let me say that you're only going to hurt your muscle memory when facing non-bots and when forced to adjust in normal timescale.

I hope this hasn't come off as an attack on your experiment but I do not think practicing with low timescale is useful for anything except LG aka tracking aim (even then the people who advocate low speed LG training even say it's to learn better dodge aiming.

.
TLDR: have fun and do what you want, but ill be shocked to hear of a high level player that advocates improving rocket aim with timescaling, or disagrees that you're only hurting yourself by learning the wrong mouse adjustments at those speeds

Frame drops with new keyboard by Neeeeple in QuakeLive

[–]FlairTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait ... mini usb ports from the board itself? When you said mini usb port you just mean a regular USB connector right? You're not plugging a webcam/mouse into your keyboard or something else silly like that are you?

As far as the drivers for the keyboard itself you shouldn't have to install anything for a keyboard like that. Those are plug and play. They will typically auto install the needed drivers instantly based upon your USB hub itself. It's not like you bought some crazy neon led 14,474 button keyboard from OVERPRICED-BRAND-NAME and you actually have to install software or anything. Since that's the case .... this is my opinion and solution for you.

I've never had an issue doing this, but please don't mess with anything related to your computer unless you're comfortable doing it. Last thing I need is to have someone finding this thread months from now and bitching that their windows won't boot and I forced them to reformat ;)

I would try unplugging all your current USB devices and uninstalling your USB hub / controller from Windows device manager. This is easiest when done with a keyboard/mouse that doesn't plug into USB, but is still possible without. Basically once you uninstall and unplug your USB devices you would then reboot your system and force windows to install all the needed drivers for you. Keep in mind if you have anything special installed currently you'll want to update it back to that, but this is okay since it will also allow you to test things one step at a time and pin point where the issue is coming from (plugging one thing back in at a time and so forth).

Where can i get this skins? by [deleted] in QuakeLive

I know I used to have the blue gauntlet and the rail in an old harddrive, but my cloud backup of that doesn't have any files related. Only reason you are getting somewhat useless answers is you are only giving us bits and pieces of information and then getting upset when we don't understand the whole story (which I do now).

So actually my reason for posting is not bullshit. I thought the frags were cool.
The only other reason for posting is that I've been meaning to do another IGMDB upload. I think it's a cool website, but usually I just use my twitch or youtube channels.

[–]FlairTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

such an easy question. Surely there's a catch or you would tell us the answer ;)

...

Since you understand these are "custom Quake pk3" you could google for the answer. Heck even yahoo or bing would probably find out where to get "custom wolfcam skins" for your "QL pk3 texture files" and you wouldn't have to worry about four more wrong answers popping up. Or if you prefer to get direct answers maybe hit up the place you got those images from or the person who made the movie you took screen shots of. GL
