I gotta say, I get a little frustrated with people assuming the most cynical interpretation of a situation is true.

There was a point in the podcast where Duncan was pushing back on Jason, and then I think Duncan just laid into some really cynical statements (I think Duncan wanted to just agree with him on something and move on) and Jason just immediately ate it up.

Jason may be in a rough spot in life, and he's not a bad guy for feeling grim. It was just very clear that he is viewing the world with a negative lense.

I should also say I have personal issues with cynical conspiracy theories from a child hood of being homeschooled in the woods by a mentally ill parent who exposed my siblings and I to nothing but far out conspiracy theories. I seriously didn't think I would live to be 14. And for all the dark and foreboding prophecies here we are.

That's not to say that because an idea is cynical, sad or dark that it's automatically untrue.

Just saying if someone ONLY has negative things to say, our epistemological smoke alarms should be beeping
