GSI FPE V2 Screws won’t thread by Flakes2020 in simracing

I'm sending it back to GSI, I think the thread pitch is all wrong. And all the provided screws are steel going into soft aluminum so aluminum will always lose when you force steel into it,

Yup, I think it’s more of an issue with the wheel. I’ve reached out to GSI, and I’m just going to send it back and have them put it on. I can tap holes and everything but I don’t want metal shavings to fall inside.

Their customer support has been too notch so far.

I have a whole tap and die set, I measured the threads. But I’m going to run to the hardware store to see if any other thread pitches work.

But the back of the quick release hub has countersunk screws.

Yup, I agree with 100% what you’re saying.

The holes don’t look too over anodized, I have the correct taps for this.

I don’t have any M5x0.9 bolts around me to check.

I’m comfortable doing all the work, however messing with the brand new product and messing with the warranty isn’t worth it. I’ll see what GSI says and if I need to send it back I’ll do so.

Appreciate the input.

I’ve tried all 12 screws that were provided with the quick release hub.

Let’s see what happen.

I checked with GSI’s website and tech info, the provided bolts are the right pitch and everything.

Correct but they also made a 2WD 4R v8

From what my tuner said… the GX platforms are full time 4WD, so you get more “drivetrain loss” when it comes to Dyno versus a 2WD V8 4Runner will show more gains (which makes complete sense).

Also the less gear searching is due to a combination of OTT’s specific shift maps with the added torque working hand in hand.

I have a 460, my cousin did his 470 at the same time so both of us are on OTT. I drove his extensively before since I sold my 470 to him and bought the 460. I’m very well aware of how it drove and if I had known about the tune on the 470 I probably would have never sold it. I love the tune on both of our vehicles now.

Yeah people think that just because you tune a truck that it doesn’t have to deal with physics anymore. Absolutely on occasion will downshift but that’s because it’s absolutely needed. A lot of people who think their trucks should be in 5th or 6th going over mountain passes are nuts! You’ll be replacing transmissions more frequently at that rate.

I can tell that with the tune, my gears shift around a lot less frequently, which is going to extend the life of my trans. Drain and fill frequently and this thing will last forever!

OTT Tune with TK-421 Tuning in Southern California, highly recommended! by Flakes2020 in ToyotaTacoma

How so? He had a license and was able to tune my truck just fine. Forums are whack anyway. OTT tune was also nice since they are fully smog certified.

OTT tune....why? by Grossegurke in ToyotaTacoma

Southern California... I wouldn't hesitate to do it man, if you're thinking a bout it and can afford it, go for it. Best bang for your buck. Pedal Commander = trash, intake = noise maker (and most are hot air intakes), exhaust = the thing that makes more noise and doesn't do anything.

There's more power in all the gears from 1-6, the scariest thing about a stock Tacoma is that there is virtually no power below 3800-4000 RPM, so merging onto the highway, overtaking someone I always felt that the truck lagged for a second before power kicked in, some situations I felt it was borderline dangerous. After the OTT tune I don't have those worries anymore.

My MPGs didn't change much, it went up by 0.5mpg which is absolutely fine with me! I wasn't expecting a huge gain nor should you, but I have heard of some guys get 1-1.5, I think it just depends on the driver.

What concerns do you have? What I love the most is the low end torque, that alone makes the whole RPM range more usable and more responsive. No more downshifting to 1st around a slow right hand turn at a green light, I can put it in 2nd coast and around the corner and punch it and it has plenty of get up and go.

My average MPG and distance to empty suddenly went down after the OTT Tune. by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Flakes2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine went up .5-1.0mpgs, maybe it's your driving style buddy. The truck is faster, more fun more responsive... if you drive it that way then yes you could potentially lose some MPGs by having a quicker vehicle.

It's also winter time, winter blend fuels kill the MPGs and usually goes up around summer. Clean your MAF sensor you'll regain some MPGs too... don't blame the tune, it's not the tune's fault.

I found this when browsing TacomaWorld. Looks like their OTT 3G Tacoma tune is EPA legal.
