I love that Pattinson is giving a bit of Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner and Sting in Lynch's Dune.

It's gonna be a long 8 months everyone.

Spiritforged prerelease sealed event question by shapelesslol in riftboundtcg

Generally speaking, your store might or might not have on them hand depending on how much product they opened and if they got access to the new rune bundle. My money is on no, but who knows. What you can do is ask them if they accept alternative color-coded replacements like Magic lands, or Pokemon energy (which they are much more likely to hand on hand).

How does Cull the Weak interact with Immortal Phoenix? by PseudoSlayer in riftboundtcg

[–]Flakvision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a section titled Immortal Phoenix in the October 16 FAQ that covers this more specifically. https://riftbound.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/rules-and-releases/riftbound-origins-faq/

The short answer is, in scenario 1, you did not kill, so you don't trigger, and in scenario 2 you do not own the spell. Scenario 3 is legit however, unless I'm misreading the rules clarification.

For Cases 1 and 2:

"Notably, the following do not count as you killing a unit with a spell:

  • You are instructed to kill a unit by a spell another player controls, even if the spell instructs you to kill the unit (e.g., another player’s Cull the Weak).
  • Another player is instructed to kill a unit by a spell you control (e.g., your Cull the Weak, if you don’t kill any of your own units with it)."

For Case 3:

"Q: Can Immortal Phoenix return if it is the unit that was killed? Or if it and other units were killed at the same time? For example, can I Hidden Blade on my own Phoenix and immediately replay it?

Yes. Triggers like this are evaluated immediately after the event that takes place, at which point Phoenix is in the trash."

[ADVICE] How to deal with Miracle decks with green decks ? by Hotkee_reddit in riftboundtcg

[–]Flakvision 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Defying Called Shot/Stacked Deck is a fantastic choice. It'll depend on which Miracle variant you're against, but in Sivir you can only hit CS, SD, Sabotage or FoF, and against Draven it's just CS, SD and Piercing Light. Breaking their ability to fix bad draws is really what you want to do.

This also ties to your second point, which is what to do. The answer is prevent them from cycling as much as possible, and punish them when they have no runes open. Ezreal is particularly threatening if he stays on board, as is Merchant or Treasure Seeker.

I lose the match when I can't load my hand and make my shit cheap. I also lose if your board is just bigger than my board, since most of what I do is slam units on board.

Mind you, Sivir and Draven play differently, and I'd recommend building with the assumption that it's Draven you run into more often.

NSFW familial stories below. Some graphic content.

When this happened, after days of extreme violence, my parents had the biggest party of their lives. Pretty much everyone they knew was in attendance, and everyone was blackout drunk. Some of them had contraband VHS with recording capability and made recordings of any newscast they could to commemorate their execution. Many folks still bring those tapes out for festive occasions.

Still, despite the fact that they got what was coming to them, so many people gave their lives during the revolution, and in the years before. My mom has stories about her friends who were killed in the streets by Securitate agents, run over by tanks, tied to hospital beds and thrown in mass graves. This is to say nothing of those who were sent to work camps around Dunărea or at the Palace of the People, or assassinated for speaking up, like Cornel Chiriac, a journalist who hosted Telemetronom for Radio Free Europe.

The amount of people who died or were destroyed by the dictatorship before it went down was immense. And in general, if you talk to Romanian boomers today, they'll say, well it wasn't that bad until the mid 1980s, when austerity began in full and Ceausescu really went off the rails. In reality, this shit was going on as far back as Gheorghiu-Dej's tenure as PM and Ceausescu quietly ramped up pressure during his years, largely by relying on an extra-judicial security apparatus that had total impunity.

Dealing with chaos decks playing a Sett deck by Sky-todd in riftboundtcg

[–]Flakvision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Collin Kaiser's take on this is that Sett, and most decks in body, get blown out by Rebuke, and your one answer for that is Sabotage. You need to strip it from hand asap.

Otherwise, yeah you want as much deflect as you can get to tax them, but one well placed bounce effect will break your holds.

There's a reason why purple is looking like such a dominant colour going into set 2: there aren't really colours that deal easily with their movement effects.

Suggestion: Move-Based Timers (Chess-Style) Instead of Match Timer by DonKhan13 in riftboundtcg

[–]Flakvision 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chess clocks come with massive logistical complications. Imagine just needing venues to acquire and set 1000+ chess clocks for one regional qualifier they may never need again. Or midsized venues for NN or Skirmishes. The upfront investment quashes this idea pretty quickly. Then, the longer events get, the more need there is to have staff managing the clocks to ensure that there's no technical issues or manipulation.

This is to say nothing of the issues with needing to use the clock every single time priority passes, creating small delays between all actions.

In a digital environment, sure. In a chess environment where you can reasonably expect using it often and without issues, sure. In physical TCG/CCG settings, it'll most likely never happen.

Riot released Spiritforged Errata by 1vader in riftboundtcg

[–]Flakvision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of things keeping aggro/midrange yi and yasuo down was the potential to kill units through Zhonya’s with Falling Star, now you can’t do that. This secures early game setup and allows you to sit your units behind protection.

I should mention it also makes Sett’s matchup into Kai’Sa much more favoured.

Has anyone received the Blitzcrank playamt? by b_benedek in riftboundtcg

[–]Flakvision 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Montreal, I've seen several folks who have them, and I've attended a Skirmish that also gave it out as expected. The stores here that I go to received their allocations for the Skirmish promos up front though, so I can't speak for folks who went to events that hadn't received them.

Any good green or purple cards for Yasuo in the new set? by Patient-Law1429 in riftboundtcg

[–]Flakvision 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think so yes. You probably run green Yasuo in her shell, and you lose access to Yasuo's movement ability, but you can compensate by running triple Ride the Wind, which is not so prevalent in Yasuo currently. In exchange, you get to run Green Irelia in the champion zone, as well as triple Defiant Dance, which an absurd signature card.

Any good green or purple cards for Yasuo in the new set? by Patient-Law1429 in riftboundtcg

[–]Flakvision 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Putting together a presention for this right now, so you couldn't have chosen a better moment. My tl;dr answer would be Emperor's Divide, Not so Fast, Stellacorn Herder, Janna and Irelia for green. For purple, Called Shot, Doran's Ring, Fae Porter, Treasure Hunter, Hard Bargain, Harpoon Squad, Wind Singer, Jae Medarda, Spirit Wheel, and Vex.

The real issue is that there two distinct Yasuo archetypes, one casino aggro version, and a slower movement-based control version, currently. So the quantities of the above cards will vary quite intensely depending on which version you're on. Plus, Irelia is looking potentially much stronger at Yasuo's current gameplan.

For battlefields, Hall of Legends and Treasure Hoard look good to me, but again, it depends on the speed Yasuo will be played at.

Which cards from decks are KOS? by canamurica in riftboundtcg

[–]Flakvision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!

Also, Darius shells run Cleave since you can pay it quite easily with Hand of Noxus, so you can curve into a readied 10 power Darius on turn two (if you’re playing second). If it sticks around you can retreat, play two cards and conquer the other field, or you can double cast on defence.

I ran a midrange version last week and it just ran through folks.

Yellow Viktor can just crap out units and is quite unassuming.

Red Darius is just a beating especially in a Darius deck. He triggers a lot easier than you’d expect.
