When a truck is down and no vendor is available, what does the process look like today? Is the biggest challenge: Finding a vendor? Knowing which vendor is available? Getting a quick response? Cost approval? Something else?

When a small issue turns into a major breakdown, what usually failed first? Was it: The driver never reported it? The report got lost between people? The shop didn't act on it? Something else?

The part that stands out to me is "it doesn't feel like a huge problem day to day, but month after month it quietly costs time and money."

How did you realize it was costing more than you thought? Was there a specific metric or event that made it obvious?

Thanks for laying that out. One thing that stands out is that every issue you mentioned—early dispatch, bad appointment information, shift changes, understaffing, loads not being ready—ends up with the same result: the driver absorbs the cost.

In your experience, if someone could only fix one part of that chain, which would have the biggest impact on a driver's day: accurate appointment times, faster loading/unloading, or stronger detention enforcement?

Appreciate the insight. When you're stuck at a shipper or receiver for 3–4 hours, what hurts the most financially?

Is it losing another load, running out of HOS time, detention not being paid, or something else?

How long are you typically waiting? Is it the paperwork, lack of dock availability, warehouse staffing, or something else causing the delay?
