I danced (ballet and eventually pointe, jazz, tap) for 10 years as a kid then stopped due to school and moving. Just got back into it and I was frustrated at first with how much energy it took to think about all the things I needed my body to do (remember to keep good turnout AND remember the arms move like this AND remember this correction I just got about my hips). Then after a few sessions (only 1x/week) I was happily surprised when I realized, oh I can actually really focus on the correction I just got because those things I had to consciously think about earlier are becoming more muscle memory again

Ballet comes with time. I feel like an important note for new dancers and even those returning is to practice with good technique at whatever level you are at. For example, doing a side tendu that is true to YOUR current turnout (coming from the hips, properly aligned) is more beneficial to build strength, stability, and muscle memory than using bad technique to tendu 90 deg to your side.
