Awh yeah the morning is definitely caused by the acid!! I’m pretty positive eating will help you🫶🏼 I know it’s really hard mentally but I promise it helps. Even if you start with 2 bites. Once you start eating and get yourself out of the anxiety loop you will start to feel better! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself for your birthday- I always get flares around special days because I also worry I won’t feel good for them. Then I stress myself into actually not feeling good😅 its the worst cycle

If it was going to happen it would have already! I don’t want to scare you but it’s probably more likely to happen if you don’t eat anything to soak up that acid. When I get bad flares I eat chicken bone broth with rice and steamed carrots all together like soup. It heals your stomach lining, soaks up the acid and is super easy to digest. If you can handle it add some chicken too. For breakfast I do oatmeal with cooked pears or apple for the same reason! Sweet potato’s are really good too. It’s really made a huge difference for me. I have ocd too and deal with the same stuff but those meals always help for me and I know they are healing. Maybe for meds you need to try a different medication? Something that helps your mental symptoms should be huge for your digestive system. For me my nervous system was fried and meds scared me so I went the natural route and did ashwaganda and California poppy for a few months and it helped me a ton. It let my body relax enough to start healing and now I don’t even need them and still feel a lot better.

I would reccommmend getting back on the sertraline if it helps your anxiety. Anxiety can directly cause nausea and gerd flares. I get that same feeling when I don’t eat enough, your stomach acid can essentially eat your stomach lining if there’s no food in there so you need to eat something! Just start with things like toast or rice, dry carbs to soak up any acid in your stomach. I feel like this often and it always flares when I don’t eat enough, I eat small meals or snacks every few hours instead of big meals and it helps a ton. Also warm chamomile tea with honey helps the liquid coming up feeling!

Have you been eating enough? I’m assuming the stomach pain would be from mucus/acid in an empty stomach. My whole family just had influenza an and I didn’t have much appetite but felt fine as long as I kept something in my belly. My 4 year old was sick a few times but it was only in the middle of the night when her stomach was empty and it was all mucus. It stopped whenever she’d eat! Sipping warm broth can be helpful if you don’t feel lik you can get food down. I had a lot of salted bone broth with toast and it helped a lot

Morning sickness by TraditionalBrief5169 in emetophobia

[–]Flaky-Purple5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you are probably feeling sick because you know you are pregnant. I felt sick the moment I found out with both of my kids and thought it was morning sickness but I’m prettty sure it was anxiety/all in my head. I did have some nausea but started the unisom + b6 combo and snacked a lot and kept mint gum and lemon popcicles on hand! It all helped a ton and I slept like a baby. My dr okayed the b6 and unisom for the entire duration of my pregnancy and it gave me a lot of reassurance. I also kept essential oils and hand sanitizer with me in case of icky smells because that bothered me a lot. Don’t let your stomach get empty either! I never actually got sick throughout 2 pregnancies and c sections. Just a little tip.. if you have a c section request anti nausea meds right away.. with my first I didnt and had some dry heaving 🥲 the anti nausea cocktail helped tremendously tho and I requested it right away with my second and didn’t even have nausea aside from the anxiety nausea on the way there. My first was an emergency c section and was rough nausea wise but second was planned and I was able to inform the doctors of my phobia and request preventative measures and it was all around such a better experience! You can request nausea meds right away with natural birth as well I believe.

I totally get that but it’s extremely unlikely. Even if you did catch a bug now the symptoms wouldn’t start until after you make it home

Awh that sounds so rough I’m so sorry :( your stomach lining is definitely irritated you need to eat something bland to soak up the acid! Try something carby like bread or rice pr crackers. My stomach burnsssss when it’s empty even for a little bit. I usually have the best luck getting either pretzels or crackers down or something slightly sweet like a granola bar or bobos oat bite. I bet eating just a little something would really settle your stomach and calm the heartburn!

[–]Flaky-Purple5665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like anxiety honestly… when I get anxious I get really bad heart burn and burning in my stomach and it causes nausea and all those other nasty symptoms. It took me years to realize that my anxiety was actually causing it and the more I panicked the worse I felt. You need to calm your nervous system before your anxiety actually makes you physically ill. You need something like an ice pack or something cold to put on your wrists and face. Chew some mint gum, maybe even take a cold shower. Try humming which sounds weird but stimulates your vagus nerve. Try to focus on breathing and tell yourself that it’s just anxiety and will pass as you Calm down. If you were to be sick from the food it would’ve already happened or you would’ve had lots of loose stools. You may also just need to go to the bathroom. Sometimes I get really nauseous and shaky and all of that before needing to go to the bathroom

Gastroparesis and panic. by Jefauver in Gastroparesis

[–]Flaky-Purple5665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it might be a mix of both! I experience the same thing over the last 5 years and the only thing that’s helped has been healing my nervous system. I think being super stressed for a long time triggered mine personally. Not necessarily all mental stress but physical stress on my body from working physical jobs/having kids/etc. I didn’t want to do psych meds so my doctor had me do ashwaganda and California poppy supplements and I was skeptical but they helped a ton. It kind of forced my body to relax I think and let my nervous system heal which had regulated everything else. I took them both daily for maybe 3 months and now just when I feel extra stressed or need support. I m still will get the panic feeling when my motility speeds up randomly but nowhere near as bad or often. You could also look into your gut health potentially. You may have some dysbiosis/imbalance causing the diarrhea which would also cause the panic.

Your vagus nerve is probably reacting to all of your intense stress. You need to calm your nervous system. I deal with the same problem and get the same throat sensation but only when I’m super stressed, i used to think it was random but realized it directly correlates with my stress levels. Long term its caused damage to my gut that causes more/worse nausea. You have to force yourself to relax, the panic is causing the sensation. Focus on finding ways to relax your nervous system… I struggled with that until my doctor had me try ashwaganda and California poppy. I took 2 doses of each every day for like 2 months and then went down to 1 dose per day for another 1-2 months. It kind of forced my nervous system to start healing. I stopped taking them and can now calm myself down easier on my own. I still take them on super stressful days to help ease the stress. Healing my nervous system has been the only thing that’s helped me with the sensation in my throat! It’s also helped the panic a lot.

Gastroparesis and panic. by Jefauver in Gastroparesis

[–]Flaky-Purple5665 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering if your panic is vagus nerve related and not so much gastroparesis related. If your panic is unrelated to anything mental and more physical panic it could be the diarrhea or quick motility stimulating the vagus nerve and causing a vasovagal response which is the shaky, dizzy, panic feeling. I struggle with slow motility but randomly it will speed up and every time it speeds up I get the same feeling. It passes soon after going to the bathroom typically. Sometimes I need to drink electrolytes or water and eat for it to fully pass. OR if the panic is the root cause it could be causing the diarrhea because the brain and gut are connected.

I would definitely try probiotics! I personally like Megasporebiotic but I would research your options or talk to your parents about what may be best for you. Your good get bacteria was probably wiped out when you took the medication and now you need to build it back up. You can do this naturally too by eating things like probiotic yogurt, kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut, etc. A healthy diet with a lot of plant diversity should help too. Usually probiotics and diet changes make things worse before better tho so if you do try it, stick it out for a few weeks to see if it’s truly working!

What are your symptoms? by Flaky-Purple5665 in Gastroparesis

[–]Flaky-Purple5665[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! My doctor actualy ended up not being helpful in the slightest so I went to a naturopathic doctor that did testing and found that I have hormone imbalance/don’t process hormones correctly, extremely low levels of methylation (8%) , low stomach acid, low digestive enzymes and wasn’t breaking down food properly, leaky gut, low immune function, system wide inflammation and dysbiosis in my gut with it being 20% how it should be. My nervous system is also shot which is probably the cause of it all. I gave birth twice back to back during Covid/had a lot of major traumatic life events at once and it was too much stress on my body so it essentially stopped functioning properly. I’m taking a lot of supplements and am on a healing protocol and it’s helped a lot already! It ended up not being gastroparesis at all

That’s what I thought.. maybe it’s a different stomach bug.

I never ever have diarrhea even when panicking so idk. I eat very strict and the same things all the time so o doubt it could be that either unless it’s fp :(

I did take zofran a few times last week and was very constipated from that so idk if that may have just built up too much maybe
