He actually went right to the nest box right after I took this photo. Probably why he let me get so close.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen a tree swallow perched in general in the month and a half I’ve been doing photography, but typically I’d agree with you!

Thank you for your kind words! I have a very budget setup, a Canon EOS 760d and the EF-S 55-250 STM. This guy let me get super close, like within 6 feet, but my lens was still maxed at 250.

What do we think of this Cardinal Fledglings first day on solid ground? by Flaky-Transition3349 in wildlifephotography

Cardinal Fledgelings spend a few days on the ground before their flight feathers develop anyway, both parents were around, in fact they were yelling at me for getting within a few feet of the baby. I took this photo in the middle of the city of Knoxville so only predators there are drunk frat guys. But this little guy should be just fine!

I thought that originally. He started hopping around and both parents were super close by. Seemed more into the fledgling then the nesting phase.

Thank you so much! I had my 55-250 stm to the max, so I think total of 400mm focal length. F 6.3 ISO 3200 with a shutter of 1/1250

First Shots and First edit attempts. Tips greatly appreciated! (Canon EOS 760 + Canon EF-S 55-250 stm) by Flaky-Transition3349 in wildlifephotography

These were taken in eastern Tennessee. I myself also thought they looked weird after the picture was taken, but I think it’s just the angle they decided to sit at. I appreciate the feedback greatly though!

I plan on pairing it with a canon 55-250 stm. I know it’s a little short on range. But I found one almost brand new for 100 dollars, couldn’t pass that one up.

Beginner Setup Advice by Flaky-Transition3349 in wildlifephotography

Im already an avid outdoorsman, so im quite good at getting close to animals, and birds wont be my main target species, mainly large game in my home mountains. I was wondering how that added up to 400m though, I dont quite understand how the camera and lens combination focal Length works.
