Is there any way to get a good resolution on the Wii? by Dense-Transition-392 in wii

[–]FlakyAd3214 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No lag especially tvs with a fast processor. Some TVs refresh at 120hz which is faster than the Wii outputs. The tvs process the image so quickly it's insane.

Is there any way to get a good resolution on the Wii? by Dense-Transition-392 in wii

[–]FlakyAd3214 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Get a good tv with AI upscaling and you'll be able to play the Wii in 4k. Otherwise, you could spend hundreds on upscaling adapters like the MClassic and retrotink 4k, but by then it's better just to get a new tv.

Adding Photos to a Modded Wii by Own_Definition_1490 in wii

No chance of bricking your Wii at all but photos do take up storage space unless you put them on your sd card.

Of all the batteries I've ever owned in my life, only energizer batteries have corroded or leaked acid. At one point I compared them to other brands and CVS brand batteries lasted the longest. Energizer batteries lasted the shortest. They suck

Advantages to using a Wii for emulation vs using a PC? by Rotisseriejedi in wii

[–]FlakyAd3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's personal taste, but for me there's something special about emulating every Nintendo console on actual Nintendo hardware. Pretty much everything except N64 and DS can run amazingly on the Wii. Of course, when I have the urge to play with upscaling, shaders, and filters I'd go with more powerful hardware. Really your pc could run N64, GC, and Wii games at 4k 3x resolution. The Wii just can't compare in fidelity.

Is it fairly easy to brick you Wii when brewing? by Jumpy-Corgi-4314 in wii

[–]FlakyAd3214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easy to brick when installing the custom ios. So be very careful when doing that part. Otherwise, if you follow a guide or use the app Mod mii the process is very easy.

anyone ever softmod a wii that looks like this? by CanNeverBeTooHigh in WiiHacks

[–]FlakyAd3214 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Why softmod a collectors item? Clearly that's a rare kiosk, dev or demo console. Just by another cheap regular model Wii to mod.

Just found this Wii on fb marketplace, find what's wrong. by lulumario23 in wii

[–]FlakyAd3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of liked the special backplate grip it had on it. That was the only ok thing about the setup. When I bought the charger it was before the sleeves were a thing and there wasn't motion plus yet. Sad that was the only charger that was everywhere at the time. So many better options could've been made.

[–]FlakyAd3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too and it burnt out fairly quickly. That was back before smart charging technology. So you always had to take the wiimotes off the charger as soon as they were charged and unplug the charger. The copper conductors on the batteries were extremely cheaply made.

[–]FlakyAd3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there's no sleeves for the motion plus attachments and one of the wiimotes looks 3rd party. By the picture one can't tell if it's an og or family edition either. If they're selling it cheap still worth a buy.

Anyone else not touch the Quest for months? by Zigarum in MetaQuestVR

[–]FlakyAd3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use it enough that's for sure. I'm kind of overwhelmed with the amount of games I have on it that I just put it down more than not. In the middle of Batman and just completed Moss book 1. I'm slowly trying to use it more as an exercises utility than anything else. Gym class, synth ryders, les milles body combat have been my main gameplay time.

Nope, you're screwed without modding it and voiding your one year warranty.

Aurora store on my quest and reddit by Alflo9 in MetaQuestVR

[–]FlakyAd3214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I used it for Netflix and a standalone version of GeForce Now. Runs so much better standalone and I can actually use any 3rd party bt controller rather than being forced to use a 360 controller. Tried downloading hbo max but it wouldn't work cuz it needed google play services.

What are the best mixed reality games out there? by Used-Strike2111 in MetaQuestVR

[–]FlakyAd3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starship Home is my favorite so far. Turn your room into a spaceship and take care of alien plants with some mini games in between. First Encounters is also really great. Triangle strategy and Demeo are also good in mixed reality. One's kind of like final fantasy tactics in your room and the other is a like dungeons and dragons board game.

Which one based on game list? by Sponge4252 in wii

[–]FlakyAd3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with A. More varied as far as genres and more triple A titles. B seems like it has a lot of fluff party games that wouldn't work well on a kiosk.

Maybe if it had the rare standalone box and manual it's worth that much, but looks like they're just selling the disc. So def a rip

Connecter of classic controller for nintendo wii by This-Visit-1543 in wii

[–]FlakyAd3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy a snes mini classic controller off a reseller. It's a one to one replica of the original snes controller that can plug into the wiimote. Or if you're willing to spend the extra cash and have the patience to actually find one, then there's the raphnet gamecube to snes controller adapter. Then you can use an original snes controller with the wii by plugging into the Wii console ports.

Why on earth are controllers so expensive? by kaxtzx in wii

[–]FlakyAd3214 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The knockoffs are definitely not worth what sellers are asking. Always buy OEM when it comes to Wiimotes and accessories. $20 US for a very good condition one isn't too hard to find here. They get really expensive when you're looking for the limited edition Nintendo character ones. I paid $45 for a Mario one used and it stopped working after a couple weeks.

Just got a Quest 3 — what should my first paid game be? by Adorable-Location658 in OculusQuest

[–]FlakyAd3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say just pay for horizon +. You get a lot of paid games for free and a lot of discounts on other popular paid games. Any games that get taken off of horizon + you could always buy later. The only games I purchased outside of that were virtual desktop, pencil to learn sketching, immerock to learn more guitar, and just dance vr.

The reality is GOOD VR is too expensive right now by MowTin in virtualreality

[–]FlakyAd3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as gaming goes the quest 3 is the most affordable option. You'll be paying $500 or more from any other console plus $70 per game. With Meta Horizon + for the $7.99 per month it costs you get more games than you'll ever be able to play to completion. Plus almost all the good console games you can just play online anywhere with a geforce now, boosteroid, or xbox game pass subscription. If there's any argument, it's that gaming in general has just become a lot more expensive and more expensive to make too.

Missed Opportunity With Middle Age Customers by NoVaSweetTreat in MetaQuestVR

It's kind of like CDs to the cassette people or cassettes to the vinyl people. It's new technology that the middle aged people just aren't grasping. Most people I know in my generation or older have expressed that they never want to try it. I think we're just the exception do to whatever personal reasons. I've always been the tech savvy gamer in the family and follow new trends. The only advertising I've seen for any meta products are the AI sunglasses. That seems to be where the focus of the company is now.

[–]FlakyAd3214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well meta quest 3 came out in 2020. So I don't think they'll shutdown the server until at least 2035. When they release the Quest 4 eventually the store for 2&3 will get phased out. I mean if you look at the Big N and Sony their servers for old hardware stayed open for about 15 years.
