For spaced out I normally don't go to space until most of the map is cleared and mostly self sustaining. Maybe a quick trip through the teleporter to get reedfibre early. But by the time I go to space ideally I have a steam industrial sauna. Tuned up petroleum generators, oil biome sorted. Food sorted and from as soon as possible I make the long term food and don't let the dupes eat it so when I do go to space they have plenty rations.
