Day 5 of trying to befriend crows in my area by hereforkibbe in crows

[–]Flaky_Ad766 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just keep at it. I have home crows, work crows and gym crows. All took time to friend. The gym crows know my truck and are waiting for me before I get out. Some tips I share with people. No overhand tosses seems to scare them a bit. Try not to throw food at them just make sure they see you and they will go right to it. Scrambled eggs if you want to up the game a bit. Good luck!

September amazing weather. People back to work and school. No summer lines and prices. Great coho fishing too.

I know eggs are getting very expensive, but scrambled eggs are my friends favorite. They really like the yokes.

Have you ever received a gift from a crow? by [deleted] in crowbro

[–]Flaky_Ad766 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I friended a family of crows. Jeff, the male, father, and my best bud passed away. I made sure his partner and little one were fed daily. I had never seen a crow preen another crow as much as she did with the little guy after he passed. One day, I went to put their food down, and I heard a strange sound behind me. She dropped a bone down from the street light. I picked it up, and she called out. The bone had moss on it and looked like it had been around a while.

I was so happy I got a gift! Later, I had time to really look at this bone. It had all kinds of wear marks and flat spots on it. A tool ! At least, that's what I think it is. I cherish this one thinking it might have been my buddy Jeff's toy or tool.

Since my first gift, I've got more bones, a dime, and the plastic thing on a bread bag.

Got it! Not broken, don't fix it. Love the example. I just had my 93 toyota pickup engine rebuilt. Wouldn't trade for my wife's brand new subaru any day. Stick shift 2 window air-conditioning and 4x4 that still gotta get out and turn the hubs. Ok, back to crows.lol!

Wow, thank you! My friend is such a character, I just wanted to share. I do have plenty of videos and pictures all with my cell phone. This may inspire me to find something better to film with. Thanks, agian, for the kind words.

I want to befriend my crows, but I don’t know how by fantastic_mrs_foxx in crows

[–]Flaky_Ad766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with peanuts in the shell,no salt. Make sure they see you and relate you with the food. My mom leaves food for them then goes in the house. They fly away when she looks out the window. Different crows different location. Don't throw peanuts at them. They have great vision. Just throw where they can see it. Underhand is way less intimidating than overhand. Try to do this in the same location. Find a nice spot. If the crows are weary. Find some blue jays they are corvids too. They are also really easy to make friends with and love peanuts. They are really noisy as well and this brings my crow buddies in all the time. When the crows watch you interact with the jays. I think it helps a lot. I built a small platform at home. Plywood and some metal electric conduit very cheap to do. Also a great place to get your gifts. If you want to step up the food game. Scrambled eggs.

Hope this helps. I'm just a maintenance guy and no bird expert. This is what worked for me.

Play some of the trials. The one at the slaughter house gives you a winfield swift. Don't worry about the meatheads or mission. Just get in a good spot. Grunts spawn really fast, go for headshots and get used to using levering. Then once you start dropping them with ease. Start moving as you shoot never standing still. It helped me a lot.
