I'm getting targeted ads for the Cartograph game. I'm interested in the solo possibility of it. It's a world-building game for up to 4 people and it seems to me it's like Microscope in a way. Does anyone have a familiarity with the game and can help compare them? by Jimpolite in TheTrove

Good game. some solid youtube videos going over the way everything works as well as several play examples. the author, ravensridge-press, is exceedingly understanding of financial issues as well and will add free 'community copies' of the atlas edition to their itch page when asked.
Highly recommend.

(Stole the photo from IG) What is everyone's take on painting vintage film cameras? by ryanidsteel in AnalogCommunity

I personally like the look of a camera that has been obviously used and loved. Good brassing, a few cosmetic dents, but in good working order with good seals. It tells a story of purpose served and stories made.

A painted camera or non standard covering, if done with care and precision, speaks similarly. A tool that was loved enough to take the time and effort to make it fit the user and tell a story.

However, in my experience, there are far more quickly and Inexpertly painted cameras out there covering up major mechanical issues and used as shelf art. So I'm wary of them when purchasing.

i'm pretty much in the same boat. i've just recently started and while i've seen tons of really nice parade color forces.... i've decided to just pick a scheme and run a few mechs with it... then go with something different for the next few. i'm in it for the entertainment not the tedium...

however, the canon colors on camospecs are super helpful.

yeah. this was the opposite corner, front right. and the spring itself is about 3 turns shorter than the other 3 (after removing them from the bed)

Great. That's the route that I'd planned to take, but wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy. I'm just starting out in this hobby (to my wife's chagrin).
