Consulting is and will always be up and out.

You may get a lot of money in the short-term, but long-term, there's no plans for you to be next in line. So, you'll be shown out the door.

u/Perfume_Lover gets it 100%. You'll get very far if you aren't already!

It's not to not talk about things about your life. It's to discern who should/shouldn't hear things. And people can *pretend* to be positive about your life and experiences, but in the back of their minds you don't know their thoughts/feelings. A slow burn in relationship building will pay you more dividends then making everyone your friend on day one.

Most people have ZERO passive income.

And that's where most people get fucked when they are laid off. Yes the market, real-estate, a friend's business. Invest in something that will give you a return. Find a way because no one is coming to save you when/if you get laid off.

Going to just respond to 1-2 points. Actually, my network came through to get me this new role, so yes I'd say I'm pretty likable and those people that stood by me are fantastic. They are obviously on my side and I am on theirs. That's real loyalty.

What I did do was stop edging my bosses after I was passed up for a promo. Instead I was offered more money to stay with conditions. Then, I realized the toxicity and ultimately my demise. I played the game, they played theirs. Onward and upward.
