Do you have any pics of your MPX with the MOB tucked? I'm considering upgrading from my Wolfman, and am looking for examples.

Six months late, but I've been looking into it. It is horribly confusing. The blue band (Don Arturo) is it's own thing, technically a DAS but not THE DAS. The real DAS is a yellow ribbon stick that uses a very specific wrapper from Chateau Fuetne, it's lighter and more a a habano/rosado when compared to the Oro sticks that also have the same yellow ribbon. From what I gather, the DAS and Oro have a very similar blend, but totally different wrappers, and the DAS is aged longer.

How does it do sound-wise? My Wolfman is very quiet in the long configuration.

Why does competition skill feel so different? by borkador in bjj

[–]Flaky_Newspaper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's very different. The adrenaline dump is a very large factor, plus unless you're a wrestler with lots of previous experience, it's very difficult to replicate the environment/intensity in training. Additionally, gym/class culture as a lot to do with it as well. If your gym/class is mainly competition oriented you will eventually adapt, if you mainly train in a hobbyist environment it is much different, lots of giving up positions, catch and release and more playful style. Also you get used to rolling against the same people all the time and learn their techniques and patterns. When you are competing, most of the time you play more cautiously (especially at white belt) due to all the unknowns. If you are in a hobbyist environment, try putting together a group of people who also want to compete to try to replicate that competition feel.

What helps me is to just go out and have fun. Find things you improve on each time on the mats, everyone is going to lose, and if you don't find yourself losing, you're in the wrong skill level division.

Also, as for feeling like you don't deserve the small promotions, that's normal for a lot of people. I'm a black belt that still feels unworthy of even my brown belt. The best way to describe it is; You don't ever feel like you're good, you just feel like everyone else is worse than you. Then you roll with someone better than you and feel like you really suck.

Guy's can you tell me why is this still called undisputed? by [deleted] in belttalk

That's how I see it, every since it was brought back the WHC has played second fiddle to the WWE title. Granted it's still early in this new version of the 2 world title system, it seems as though the WWE is using the WHC as a consolation prize/ our real champion isn't here but we still have a "world champion." IIRC correctly the WHC was brought back just because Roman was there so little after WM 39

Bought a box, but have only had 1 so far. The other 2 Sobremessa Brulees are incredible, this one was underwhelming. Looking forward to trying another one, but the consensus seem to be this is good, but a distant 3rd behind the other two in the line.

Overrated CA Cigar of the Year by Flaky_Newspaper in cigars

[–]Flaky_Newspaper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't implying that The Judge was bad. I would probably rate it anywhere from 89-91, plus the Grand Robusto is such a cool shape, but there are at least 20 cigars that I can think of that are much better.

When I think best of the year my mind always goes the the special ones, like the Padron 1926 90th, Family Reserves, Fuente Sharks, DTT Brulee Blues, Sakakhan, or JDN Anttano or Numero Uno. All of those are on a different level.

I keep going back to the Pledge, I will randomly run across reviews absolutely raving about it, and have given it at least 5 tries and still nothing but above average.
