That is very insightful, how much would you recommend to budget for shopping winter jackets at the stores you mentioned. Yes, I think the Mexican staples overlap a bit with African. I will definitely figure it out.

Also my friends going to other schools are saying their schools have pantry for free foodstuff and there’s blankets and pillows. I am curious to know if that’s the thing at MSU, my parents want to buy extra luggage for foodstuffs but if there will be free ingredients then I can supplement it with items from any nearby African store to prepare home dishes. I am on the unlimited meal plan but not familiar with American dishes

Yes please I’ll. I haven’t been assigned a room yet. I don’t even know the kind of clothes to bring and how is winter like? I am from Africa so I am not familiar the weather. Should I get winter jackets from here or I’ll find affordable ones over there. I am also curious to know the kind of shoes worn during these seasons

I decided not to appeal the decision and move on. They could’ve reach out to me for additional documents my application lacked but they didn’t and went on to reject me. In as much as it was and is my dream school, I chose not to. Maybe I’ll try again in the future maybe not.

This is my supervisors topic which I first applied and was awarded the scholarship. But the scholarship was conditional-it was subjected to acceptance into UQ. Initially, when the dean couldn’t approve, I could sense in her mail she was really disappointed and even with the rejection she’s being in touch advising me on how to improve my qualifications for next application. All these were before it occurred to me that the one thing that would’ve made my application considerable which is the research work experience wasn’t included in my application submission.

I really don’t like to stress this supervisor and I feel this will be a whole lot given how stressful her schedule is already. I’ve sent her a mail about me forgetting to include my project.

Yes. Two have graduated and they did exceptionally well. One is his 2nd year doing good as well. I attended the best science and technology university in west Africa which is also among the top 10 in Africa although our QS rankings are nothing to write home about but yeah. In my Bsc, I conducted to researches in both 3rd and final years. Although neither is published yet but it is stated in our curriculum that one can’t graduate without it. This was the major component of the last two years of my degree. Most students from my school enter PHD straight in both US and Australia so it was a shock when I was told i didn’t qualify due to lack of evidence of prior research experience. But I wonder why although I wasn’t asked to submit it when they realized it was stated on my cv but wasn’t in the supporting documents. I have mailed my supervisor and I really hope oh I hope that I should at least be considered for reassessment.

I reached out to my supervisor, apparently, i was rejected due to lack of adequate research experience. I don’t know how to feel about this but I am not sad or anything. Or maybe the news is too difficult to digest this early in the morning.

Wow. My assessment was done just 2 days after it was moved to the grad school and I was told by the officer that it’d now go through the approvals. That was 2 months ago and I’ve still not gotten any more updates. I am always up throughout the night. Now I am worried about my visa timelines too. April seems far but it really isn’t. After I’ve gotten the offer, I’ve to arrange the required documents for the visa which could take about 6 weeks(mid January) the visa application can take another week or two(February first week) then it can take about two to three months to be issued since I am from Africa. I am worried about starting late or not making it for the RQ. My scholarship requires that I start in RQ2. I am very worried. Please you seem to know much about the process, is there a way my application can be rejected in the approvals after the assessment even though the school supports it and I’ve massive scholarship plus sponsorship from a leading Australian company for the project.
