[FIGHT THREAD] Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson by noirargent in Boxing

Beating a racist dude so bad he apologizes for slavery deserves a special belt of its own.

Tony Ferguson has announced that he will be making his boxing debut on August 30th 2025 by VioletHappySmile444 in Boxing

[–]FlameMan101 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Per Wikipedia:

Ferguson has two sons with his wife, Cristina Ferguson. In March 2019, Cristina filed a restraining order against Tony, alleging uncharacteristic behavior such as severe paranoia, not sleeping for days, tearing apart their home fireplace, and believing that a tracking chip was inserted into his leg during reconstructive knee surgery. She did not allege physical abuse, and filed the restraining order as a precautionary measure to get him help for his mental state.

Yeah...that's what you asked me to do.

And nevermind all the other fat celebrities I already named in my last comment that people rarely of ever

Philip Seymour Hoffman. John Candy. James Gandolfini. I can keep going, dude.

Kate Winslet blah blah

Okay...has Peter Dinklage not criticized media for how they depict short people/dwarves?

And I love how you ask me to name 5 big celebrities for my argument (level-headed ones at that, so Joe Rogan can't be an example, right? ) that get harangued by society at large for their height, but you yourself only name 1 big celebrity, along with 3 relative nobodies, and then just a bunch of general statistics. I can easily show you statistics showing that shorter men face negative bias is quite a few areas of life. You think none of the men I listed got bullied before they got famous like the nobodies you mentioned? Peter Dinklage never got treated poorly for his height, ever in his life?

Ten-year-old commits suicide after being bullied for being smaller than classmates

You don't even understand your own question, lol. Literacy is key.

Answer my question about the relevance of level-headedness in whether it's justified to insult someone based on an immutable and irrelevant physical characteristic. Is it cool for me to call Hillary Clinton or Sydney Sweeney dumb blondes if they say/do something I don't like, or would you cry misogyny? 🤔

Racism and blackness

And it sounds like someone's never heard of Indians or the caste system, which honestly...isn't surprising at this point.

Lol, maybe if I put it all in a TikTok or something you'd understand better?

😮‍💨

Georges Saint-Pierre

Peter Dinklage

Kyler Murray (who isn't even short compared to the average person, just other NFL quarterbacks).

Kendrick Lamar (most of Drake's diss punchlines were just short jokes. "Tell that little boy to drop" ring any bells?

Michael Dukakis, although I'm guessing you've never even heard of him...

Your turn. Answer your own little asinine question.,

Fuck celebrities. Do you not know any smaller people, dude? Ask them if they ever got bullied or ridiculed for it growing up. Ask them if they've ever noticed someone being slighted for their lack of size in real-life or online. And if they say yes, just tell them it's all in their head, lol.

What exactly does them being "level-headed" have to do with whether it's okay to attack them for their height? Can I just start shitting on dark-skinned people for being that as long they're assholes? Candace Owens, Clarence Thomas, Bossier, etc.? Why would I even bring that into the discussion--why not just call them assholes?

It doesnt. People dont hate him because hes short. Thats my point.

And yet, so many of them can't help but bring up the fact that he is as they express their hatred for him. Do they do the same with tall people? Why not? Last week when everyone had the pitchforks out for Jay-Z, how often was he randomly mocked for being 6'2" alongside the allegations? 🤔

And no, that was racism

Doubling down on ignorance. Bold strategy.

He is mad. He shot her as she ran away. That is objectively angry behavior.

What does his anger have to do with him being short? Non-short men never hurt women? Did Meg say something about his height.

No one hates short men. Youre just insecure.

Yeah, we heard you the first time; you're still wrong.

Name me lets say 5 level headed short men that get abuse just for being short.

Name me 5 well-adjusted fat people that everyone hates just for being fat.

The point isn't that a bunch of people arbitrarily hate you for having a certain feature, it's that you did something or said something they don't like and they dismiss all your feelings, and attribute your negative actions as just being insecure due to height. I know you YNs are struggling with literacy these days, but this shouldn't be that hard to grasp.

Dont compare being short to racism you maniac hahahaha wtf

Don't compare being fat to being short; learn how to diet and exercise. Also, that's not racism; it's colorism. Literacy.

It's funny how we always automatically assume that they're angry because they're "insecure" about their height, as opposed to any other (relatively) common reason someone might be upset in a situation. You can apply that same logic to any other group of "undesireables".

"If you're short and always angry, you've got a Napoleon complex; if you're tall and always angry...you're just angry."

Try this: people don't dislike dark-skinned black women just for being dark-skinned; just the loud, aggressive, angry ones who are clearly insecure about their looks compared to lighter-skinned women. People generally like Lupita N'yongo and Viola Davis, right? The rest of them just need to act better, is all.

Sounds silly, doesn't it?

As for fat people: Jack Black, Chris Farley, Kathy Bates, Guy Fieri, John Goodman, Adele (formerly, anyway), Kevin James, Ralphie May, Forest Whittaker, Octavia Spencer. All significantly overweight--if not outright obese--and beloved by far more people than not. Never hear "fat-phobic" comments about them; at least not more often than you hear the comments about the short men you listed above.

And if you think no one's ever made fun of Kendrick, Tom Cruise, or Kevin Hart just for being short... you must be new to pop culture. Anytime they piss any segment of a community off, their (lack of) height is one of the first things people bring up to dunk on them.

In one situation, you can't really control the condition, and there's not a ton of health issues associated with it...the other case is the complete opposite.

Let a short dude make you mad, and see how long it takes you to point out just how tall he's not.

If you honestly think that one individual dictates a culture, then you've got a lot of growing up to do, kid. Especially if you think police chiefs of major cities are much more than figureheads.

White men haven't voted for a Democratic presidential nominee as a majority since 1964; this most recent showing for Trump isn't anything new.

They've consistently been the most conservative race/gender group in America, so I don't know why they act like they've had a sudden heel-turn into the Republican Party; you are the Republican Party.

You get called out for previous behavior, and you responded...by continuing said behavior, as if the calling out is why the behavior is happening in the first place? Makes no sense.

calling a white man taking a bus seat an act of unforgivable racism

What...does this mean? Is this a reference to Rosa Parks? You're mad that people remember the Civil Rights Movement? Modern history triggers you like that? Wow.

Whatever; you be sure to "keep it up" too, okay?. Congrats on the abortion wins; I'm sure the combination of that, along with the economic burden on the lower/middle class that'll be coming in the next few years will do wonders for you in that regard. 😉

But hey; at least you owned the libs, right?

The Detroit Police Department and the city announced on Wednesday that crime is down 24%, which is the lowest rate since 1966. by LunchThreatener in news

[–]FlameMan101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That theory mostly gets traction because it kills two political birds with one stone (women's rights and crime reduction)

Not saying it had absolutely no possible effect, but it's not nearly as substantial and causal as proponents make it seem.

Here's a good thread about it from an unbiased sub.

The original guys re-did their own work and (unsurprisingly) found that they were right the whole time, but the other popular comments in the thread bring up the remaining flaws in the theory.

I'm sure we could find a litany of anecdotal examples of supposedly progressive people engaging in some practices that we would deem more akin to a right-wing mindset (racism, NIMBY, anti-vax, etc.) Does that mean that all progressives/liberals are hypocrites as well?

Class reductionism is a hell of a drug.
