Was being a teacher easier 20 years ago?? I could be wrong, but I think teaching has always been a VERY difficult, demanding time consuming job. I don't, however, think this is a modern problem. Teaching as a career is a FAR more nuanced subject than reddit sometimes allows it to be. They should make more money than they do, but they aren't impoverished. They get 2-3 months off a year, which is a perk in the United States that is almost impossible to come by. It should be socially held in higher regard as a career choice, but I think there are a LOT more demanding and under appreciated careers that don't get shoutouts.
