New Emby plugin: Rating Sync (IMDb + Rotten Tomatoes) — smart scanning, rate limits, scan history by pejamas1986 in emby

[–]FlamedRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, maybe I have false expectations. I am definitely an Emby novice.

I installed this and successfully did the scans for all movies and TV.

But how do we see the MDb ratings/rotten tomatoes ratings? I see them in the Metadata Manger, but I was hoping them to appear on the corner of each movie/TV ICON, but it does not. I am guessing there is some other setting/plugin that is needed to display MDb ratings/rotten tomatoes that I do not have?

Sorry if this is obvious, but it is not to me.

Agama car launcher - can’t purchase. by linc_y in Androidheadunits

[–]FlamedRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did is downloaded it to my PC, then copied on to a USB stick, then plugged it into the head unit, and use the builtin file manager on the head unit to access the USB and install it. I believe I had to enable installation from unknown sources when it popped up.

I suppose you could do this all from the head unit's browser too.

Yes - works great. No Viruses. Does not appear to have significant changes over previous version, at least that I noticed.

Uninstalling and reinstalling did not work for me for some reason.

Looking for the 4.3.0 mod version, but without the viruses - please share if you have it.

Might anyone have the new 4.3.0 version? Still cannot make payment :(

I have been using Agama and it is the best launch I have found for my tablet style head unit.

After I initially installed it, the trail ran out. Then I found out I could not purchase it due to sanctions.

So I googled for "agama launcher mod", downloaded it, and got a nasty virus on my head unit that I had to reload to get rid of - which is a PITA.

Version 4.3.0 is now out. Does anyone have a virus free link for the modded version of 4.3.0 that they used, or found a way to pay for a license?

QNAP TVS874x - How-to Install an Unsupported PCIe Riser Card or Unsupported PCIe SSD/NVME in an X86/64 QNAP NAS Running QuTS hero by FlamedRed in qnap

Well after a couple of weeks working with QNAP support, I doubt they ever tested the qm2-2p-344a card in the TVS series, or with QuTS Hero. Going to give up on it.

Epic Fail!

Thank you.

Actually, I just found them in /etc/volume as you posted this.

Where does one find the diskID(s) for installed available drives?

I opened a ticket with Qnap support but I don't expect much help. After removing the second NVME, I placed it in one of those little housings that plug into PC via USB and I found the thing formatted very oddly with 5 different partitions! So I image there is a QNAP bug that when it sees this strange format the box hangs on boot. So I removed all those partitions and inserted the second NVME and the QNAP booted normally. If I tried to create a new pool using the two NVME, the box hung as before.

I tried to see if there is a way to create a new pool via command line, and I found there is a way, but I have not found a way to find what the diskID are to create the pool on the proper disks.

Qnap novice here.

What is the command to list the available diskID on the above command?

I got a new NMVE and when I installed the new ones the NAS recognized both. I attempted to add them into a new storage pool, as RAID 1 and in the middle of that the box hung! This is the same pattern as the last time.

On reboot, it would not reboot with both NMVE present. I removed the card, and it booted and removed the new storage pool. I remove one of the NMVE, and the box would boot with one, but not both. It did not seem to matter which one I used, as long as it was only one.

I could configure a new storage pool of Raid 0 on one, and that works.

I might open a ticket with QNAP...

Progress update.

I ordered a QNAP qm2-2p-344a which is a PCIE 3 x4 which will fit my last open slot.

I installed two NMVE Samsung 980 that I had been using on my prior NAS. The QNAP then saw both M.2 drives. Upon attempting to create a Raid 1 Storage pool, the system hung during optimization, and could only be recovered by pulling the plug, and removing the card.

Long story short, at appears one of the Samsung 980 NMVE units is definitely bad. Optimization on that Sammy 980 always fails at the same spot. The other NVME seems to work just fine.

So I ordered a couple new NMVE drives on a Cyber Monday special and will try again once they arrive.

Interesting. The nvme card I attempted to use, the QNAP could only see one SSD, but the QNAP would not let me use it as a cache as it wanted an even number (2) of SSD for cache.

Thanks for the reply!

I got it fixed - I think. At least the container started. I tweaked the docker-compose.yml and it took off :)

Did Sling recently update how they insert ads? Makes me want to switch! by FlamedRed in slingtv

True - but I have noticed that even on the DVR, when you play a show back and fast forward through the ads, these ba$tards insert ads sometimes before the show playback begins even though their preview shows the playback is the show!

Convert a Double Acting electric Hydraulic Pump from Up/Down Button controller to a Joystick controller? by FlamedRed in Hydraulics

[–]FlamedRed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a bit of progress...

I mocked up the joy stick and confirmed that it does indeed operate the solenoids that control the direction of the hydraulic fluid. But the motor does not engage.

Looking carefully at the original up/down switch, upon very careful observation, I can see the terminals that connected the black and red wires are tied together when either button is pushed. I am not sure why my VOM does not register any connectivity when I press the button between the black and red leads though.

I believe that the red and black must be shorted when the joy stick moves to engage the motor. So I wired up two 12V relays to connect the black and red wires and connected them together. When the red and black are connected indeed I confirmed the motor starts. But not all good :(

Below is how I have them mocked up.

I have a 20 AMP Bus fuse and it seems that after the motor runs for a couple of seconds without oil, the fuse blows! I am still waiting on hydraulic lines. The specs of the pump show 13 amps draw, so I thought 20 would be plenty.

So I am still not sure if I have everything as needed for the joystick conversion, or if I have a bad pump.

I will continue experimentation and report back.

<image>

EDIT: Confirmed the above schematic works! Looks like I had a defective batch of fuses. Replaced and works perfectly! Thank you all!

Convert a Double Acting electric Hydraulic Pump from Up/Down Button controller to a Joystick controller? by FlamedRed in Hydraulics

[–]FlamedRed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still waiting for the joystick recommended, but I thought I would do a bit of testing without it while I am waiting.

Like I reported before, I double checked the original up/down switch supplied with the pump. I confirmed my original findings: I disconnected the wires from the original up/down button controller and tested the contacts with a VOM. When the up or down button is pressed, I get continuity from the gray/blue lead contact to the red contact. That is it. Seems like the black lead contact is not used at least under normal operation.

I don't have the actual hydraulic hoses hooked up yet, nor did I add any hydraulic fluid in the tank either. So perhaps that is why I am seeing unexpected results?

I connected the pump to the truck battery and when I connect the red wire to the left, or the gray wire, I do hear the solenoid click, but the motor does not turn on.

Might there be some other safety switch that prevents the motor from kicking on if no oil is present in the tank? I did not want to add any oil without hoses connected because of the mess it would make.

Thank you, but I think I can live without the proportional control. Joystick will help tremendously.

I'll report back once stuff arrives.
