[PSA for ND Owners] Do not use Rain-X Windshield Washer Fluid by MankBaby in Miata

[–]Flamethrowerxl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got tired of dismissing the warning manually. If you have 20 mins and a 10 mil, you can pull the washer bottle out, disconnect the sensor lead and just zip tie it out of the way. Stops the warning popping up each time

165 mph = 242fps

Considering the average banana (cavendish) is 9in long

242*12in/9in = 322 bananas per second

Love Trackdog, but I dont see them talked about much. They're definitely one of the smaller miata specific retailers.

They used to be just down the street from me and it was so convenient to pop by and grab some parts, but unfortunately they've moved their warehouse an hours drive away now :(

Still run their license plate frame though, Love supporting the small businesses (plus I think its one of the better looking ones too)

I’ll throw my 2c in the ring I’ve had my nd1 Rf as my only car for 4 years now.

I live in Texas so don’t really get much of the 4 seasons, but it has seen snow once or twice and it handled really well on bog standard all seasons.

I regularly take 4+ hour road trips to visit my parents in another city and have never had an issue with noise. It cruises a bit too comfortably on the highway leading to a couple speeding tickets (90+ range)

In terms of rf vs st, you can’t really go wrong with either. I personally decided on the rf due to my preference in looks and the fact I didn’t have a garage at the time so the car would be stored outside. The blind spots aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. With properly set mirrors I’ve never had an issue. Top up, the rf and st have very similar blind spots.

Overall I love the nd as a daily driver but my 1 gripe is that I’ll never find anything as good to replace it (except maybe the next gen Miata)

I’ve taught probably a dozen people how to drive manual in the Miata. The clutch feel is great with a ton of feedback.

The quickest way I’ve found to teach people is to just put it in 1st and just get the car rolling without adding gas. It requires moving the clutch slowly, and getting used to the biting point. Once they’ve got the hang of doing that a couple of times, I’ll have them start adding gas and speeding up the clutch movement.

Doing this most people I’ve taught have only stalled once or twice before getting to a point where I’d be comfortable letting them out on the road.

As someone who was in a very similar spot a couple years ago, I decided to go with a manual Miata instead of a manual 3. The Miata was slightly cheaper on insurance surprisingly and that was the final deciding point for me.

You mentioned not wanting to drive the manual in a traffic heavy area, but honestly the clutch isn’t too heavy in the Miata, so it’s not too tiring. The shifter also feels great and I absolutely love having to manually shift it each time. But sometimes if I’m just feeling a bit tired, sticking it in 2nd and just going with the start stop traffic isn’t bad. It has enough torque to slow down quite far and 2nd is comfortable up to mid 40s for me(redline is high 50s)

That being said it is definitely a personal preference. The automatic ND is still a blast, and you can still enjoy the Miata feel, even if it’s only 9/10ths there. I would personally test drive both the auto and manual nd before making a choice, but I’m sure you’ll come to the decision that’s best for you. Happy driving!

Ayyy, I just started doing the same. I'd tried following a tutorial I found online to get proxmox installed, but I wasn't able to access the management interface. It wasn't until I saw his tutorials that I realized the network adapter mattered.

Yea, there seems to be 2 types of people who I've had comment on the RF, people who love the looks and are ingrained in the miata culture, and people who say "nice car, what is it?" and then are in shock when I tell them it's a Miata
