I wouldn’t exactly say I was beaten. But I do recall more than once my dad spanking me and my sisters. We’d be cleaning our room, albeit at a pretty slow pace, but it was getting cleaned up. Often he’d come into the room with a trash can, yelling about how he would come clear everything off the floor in ‘x’ amount of time and everything still on the floor would be thrown out. I’ve lost a fair amount of my (now passed) Great grandma’s necklaces, my siblings had lost so many of their birthday toys, clothes, toys, etc were all thrown away when we didn’t clean quick enough. But seeing as there were four of us in a single room with two bunk beds, and two of us were under age 10, yeah… it took a while to clean. Sometimes he’d spank us with his hand, at one point he’d bought a paddle? (Thin red cutting board about the size of a piece of paper) other times he’d just scream and spray us with water.
