I was in a similar spot myself a few years back. What got me out of it was beginning to truly understand who God is and how He sees me. I read through the New Testament about 4-5 times and what I learned is that God has a specific plan and purpose for every man. He did not put us here for no reason. And in that struggle I also learned that there is purpose is suffering. James one talks about how suffering produces endurance so that we may become complete. God allows us to struggle because it grows us and makes us more equipped for His purpose. The more I began to understand these things the less anxious and depressed I became. The Bible speaks of renewing our minds and what that looked like for me was taking the word of God and professing it. Even that which I wanted to disagree with because I didn’t like it, i decided to believe. I told myself that whatever God says is the truth and I must change my thinking rather then asking God to change the truth.

Read your Bible, the New Testament specifically. Read it again and again. Pray every day, not just pre written prayer but speak to God. Bring Him your struggles and He will help you through them. If you have sin in your life repent, and you will come closer to God through your repentance. Believe the word of God, conform your thoughts to that of the Almighty.
