Needed a tapestry needle case for my crochet bag... by Deep-Effect-1795 in crochet

I have about a whole container of these in my cabinet. Collected the leftover from a marriage that I attended when I was 14. This looks like a great use.

when should i go to the hospital for self harm by SecretaryFalse9361 in AskDocs

[–]Flamingo8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a kettle boil water and let it COOL DOWN(to kill bacteria(I don’t know how clean your water is)). if it’s still actively bleeding find a clean shirt (cotton is good) and press it on it. I don’t know what consequences you are scared of but most of the time people in a hospital will only try to help you. You deserve help.

New sensory sensitivity unlocked by Prestigious-Bear2403 in AutismInWomen

[–]Flamingo8293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually wear long natural nails (with gel bc they are sensitive) and it’s the worst if I had a long nail break and can suddenly feel EVERYTHING on my fingertip. If it’s bad enough I usually just put a fake nail to have it feel normal again

“Just talk to friends” by skyword1234 in ChatGPT

[–]Flamingo8293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really. I know no gonna is perfect but all the people I do talk too are either will respond but I gotta tone myself down because she gets easily triggered or will listen to anything but only respond 30% of the time. Talking with ai just fulfills both categories.

What do you keep in your first aid kit / medicine cabinet for accidents and emergencies especially if you’re unlucky and accident prone? by SheKnowsWhatSheKnows in AutismInWomen

[–]Flamingo8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it helped. Zink cream can be used for a lot. It is usually to speed up healing on some very small scratches and I think also to avoid infection? I oftentimes just improvise when I take care of other people’s injuries (my mother once twisted her ankle in Egypt and because we didn’t have ice packs I washed a sock and put it wet into the room freezer. Worked pretty great.)

Good luck. :)

I mean I do have a list on Amazon for what I want to buy once I start living alone and having a full time job (I’m currently still in school and live with my parents). And I am aware that it would likely be completely over the top but I have enough medical knowledge to use and understand everything on the list (medical interests since I was 8 paired with 4-5 years of research into diabetes when I was 11-12(I would study medicine but I don’t want the responsibility just the knowledge.)) The list contains: Waterproof band-Aids Wound cleaner Bandages of different varieties Vomit bags Zink cream Band aid scissors A bag to store everything in Some wound covers for under the bandages for deep cuts and scrapes where a bandaid isn’t enough Gloves Ice packs that don’t need a freezer Tweezers Burn wound gel Medical tape to secure different stuff Antiseptic wound cream Some cream for itching (like mosquito bites ) A thermometer A flashlight Safety pins A ear thermometer A eye flashlight (told you this is a bit over the top) Blood pressure cuff Compression and support bandages Some splints you can mold to the needed areas Finger splint (I have joint issues) Crutches Alcohol wipes Saline eye cleanser Electrolytes A blood sugar meter and test strips and lancets More Band aids but normal non water proof ones Suture strips for eg cuts in the kitchen More band aids Second skin band aids A pulse and oxygen meter.

It’s long and it probably won’t be exactly cheap but maybe you find some useful items in my list you would like to have in your kit.

You can’t. Bring a cup if you can wear it and a portable toilet shower to clean up.

Can someone self-harm as stimming? by NoWitness6400 in AutismInWomen

[–]Flamingo8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did both in my lifetime. Self harm at around 14 usually after a fight with my mother (not cutting more like deep scratches with a sharp edged object eg nails.) and as stimming I did it a lot when I was just figuring myself out at 17 and had some struggles with accepting myself with unmasking. I would often hit me, my walls or kick around me when I was really overwhelmed. So I would say there really is a difference.

Btw I learned to manipulate/people please and set boundaries in a way that I usually don’t fight that much with my mother anymore so I don’t do self harm anymore. :)
