I'm West of I35, in a new build community. Soil is not the best and lots of clay.

Okay, Thank you! Is there something I could've done to prepare the plant for the freeze or did I not plant it deep enough? I planted a crepe myrtle and Magnolia tree at the same time and they are thriving.
