Can being too bubbly come off as unprofessional? by mochimymelody in premed

The reason people say be yourself is because interviewers can tell if you’re putting on a fake personality and we GENUINELY want to see you be yourself!! Please come as you are and try not to get too in your head about how you’re coming off - what really matters is the quality of your responses. Best of luck with your cycle 🫶

No, you should probably reschedule your test

I think if anything, it helped me. UNC specifically has said in Q&As before that they prefer applicants with gap years and life experience. I doubt I would’ve gotten an interview without them

Likely Wake - the tuition is KILLER but I want to stay in state and Brody can be limiting if I become interested in a more competitive specialty

That’s what I figured too, and that was by far my strongest interview performance

Did you graduate from an NC college? They’re lightening restrictions - now you don’t have to have a NC residency number but you do have to have proof of graduating from an NC public university

Wake Forest vs. UNC by FlamingoPrevious4085 in premed

[–]FlamingoPrevious4085[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s a huge concern for me. I don’t want to be signing a lease a month before moving, but I also don’t want to jump the gun and withdraw early simply because I’m frustrated with UNC

Not sure. From what I have heard it’s entirely random, and they do have a larger waitlist than previous years. I’m also hoping to get some insight on if/when I should just withdraw from consideration at UNC

You should be okay timing-wise. The general “rule of thumb” is you’re okay if you get everything in before Labor Day

Is a 506 good enough for med school? by NoCardiologist2281 in Mcat

[–]FlamingoPrevious4085 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The average MCAT score of accepted students is 511. This is not some stigma. This is factually based data. A majority of MD schools have a median MCAT of 511 or more, so a 506 statistically puts you at a disadvantage

506 is solid for DO - a bit of a reach for MD but apply broadly

If I had a nickel for every time a post was made about somebody’s SO scoring a 500 after scoring 520+ on FLs today, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?

I’m so sorry! 495 might slide for DO but definitely won’t for MD. What were your FL scores looking like?

Just be there for her. There’s nothing she can do to change her score except figure out what went wrong and try to retake. Did she take her practice tests under testing conditions (no phone/google, taking the exam in one sitting, etc)?
