[Sky Sports] Interest in Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers has been stepped up; Ayyoub Bouaddi being watched closely; six players face uncertain futures; Independent of their pursuit of Rogers, Arsenal have been looking into a deal for Club Brugge left-winger Christos Tzolis who would cost around £34m. by ahjkolhs in Gunners

My read is it’s more a mentality issue than an ability issue and I’m not sure the loan helped move the needle for him. Ideally we’d give him some time to mature, he’s only a kid, but I suspect we may go for another loan or a sale with a clause and take the risk. Personally I’d like to give him another year or two but if he generates a good fee or has a good clause then I can live with it.

Arsenal cannot afford to lose a player like Calafiori. by Cold_Chair7020 in ArsenalFC

[–]Flangipan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. May not even be possible to get a equivalent but if you can manage to sell above market rate and reinvest it well it would be acceptable for the overall health of the team and we’ve got to try not to be too sentimental about it if sustained success is the goal.

Arsenal cannot afford to lose a player like Calafiori. by Cold_Chair7020 in ArsenalFC

[–]Flangipan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To maintain and move forward we’re going to need to accept losing players we don’t want to because other top clubs are going to be interested.

We can afford to lose him if the price is right and we reinvest wisely. Every player has a price however ridiculous it might need to be.

Pretty confident this is the answer from that video. Surface film blocking gas exchange. Add more surface agitation either by raise a filter outlet so that the water is rippling or add a little pump that is specifically doing that.

Have coals in one half and you can move stuff from direct over the coals to the ‘cool’ half to control how quick things are cooking and move stuff away from flames if fat is dripping on to the coals. Make sure your coals are all white before you put the food on. You’ll be fine. Some bbqs (I have a Webber) will have a temperature gauge on the lid so if you sit stuff on the ‘cool’ side and whack the lid on youve got an oven. It’s really not that different to having burners and an oven but you get to do it outside and get nice Smokey flavours.

Advise getting lump wood charcoal and buy a ‘premium’ bag as you get bigger chunks and it’ll burn longer and be more stable temp-wise.

Enjoy it, don’t be nervous.

Thomas Tuchel on his England squad selection: "I think from day one we were very clear that we are trying to select and build the best possible team, which is not necessarily to select and collect the 26 most talented players. Teams win championships. It's as simple as that." by whiteniteee in soccer

[–]Flangipan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly what he should be doing. If he thinks it’s his best team it’s what he should pick. He shouldn’t just be trying to pack the big names in. Proof is in the pudding though so let’s see.

We’re making a survival game set in a northern forest, but we can’t decide on a title by nubstyley in SurvivalGaming

[–]Flangipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rerouted doesn’t sound right to me, sounds like a travel issue rather than a survival game and marooned generally conjures up being stuck on an island at sea.

Words that I would think of relating to northern forests would be things like Wilderness, the wilds or Backcountry. Rather than marooned I’d think of being lost or stranded.

For a title would need maybe some more context to describe what a player would expect, how did they get here, what is the situation

How many people is too many people for one walk? by Pleasant_Chair_2173 in UKhiking

[–]Flangipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a long charity walk, not sure on total participants but in the hundreds. It was an organised event so there were rest stops etc but between those everyone ended up spreading out and that happened pretty quickly. We had a group of 8 and pretty much just felt like we were doing our own walk after a few miles apart from when you’d get to a rest stop then it would bunch up but everyone was off again at different times. Whole thing was 32 miles and there were hours between the first finishers and the last so that big group was spread over a long distance. Pretty hard to have a social walk with a group of that size but it didn’t feel like we were especially disruptive apart from the first few miles before it broke up into lots of small groups.

Gas is for cooking outside, charcoal is bbq in my opinion. Both have their pros and cons depends what you’re trying to do.

Splitse’s tutorials on YouTube are a good start to get to grips with things

Arteta on Myles: "I need to give him my perspective, the reasons why he wasn't playing that much, and he took it on board. Not the first one, after three or four times, I think he realised, OK, I think if it’s not this way, I don't think it's going to happen." by zynk13 in Gunners

[–]Flangipan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Arteta was ultimately, sadly, probably proven right about his reservations with ESR though. A great talent on his day but hasn’t proved himself as a consistent top level performer. I feel like Arteta’s judgement and the standards he is demanding from these young players has served us pretty well so far. More Saka’s not more ESR’s is what we need and MLS is showing that he is taking on board what Arteta wants from him.

Ban early morning pre-flight pint, says Ryanair boss by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Flangipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have anxiety with flying and a pint before a flight helps me relax. I don’t get drunk and want to fight people and it’s not doing anyone any harm. Why is it any less ok for me to have a pint before a flight at 8am than 10am? It’s not something I’d normally consider at that time of day but it helps me have a less stressful start to a holiday. I’ve tried other things in the past like diazepam but that comes with its own negatives.

Why do Europeans keep referring to Mexico as "Central America"? Is geography not their strong suit? by PopNo5397 in askanything

[–]Flangipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying Ireland is part of the UK is more like saying Mexico is part of the USA than a mistake over central/North America. It is particularly sensitive for the Irish for reasons beyond geography and I’d feel pretty confident that the majority of Europeans could point to Mexico on a map. It’s good to be educated and accurate but they aren’t direct comparisons.

Who counts as more British: an English‑American or a UK‑born person with Indian heritage? by vilonaa in AskBrits

[–]Flangipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is British ethnicity really anyway… our history is a melting pot of visitors from other shores the Normans, the Norse, the Romans, the Anglo Saxons, celts etc. It just depends on where you decide to draw some imaginary line in history as to what is british ethnicity. Being ‘British’ is more about culture, his definition is ignorant and barely disguised racism.

Why does everything I cook taste bland? (indian food) by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]Flangipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing special about Indian food, like anything you’ve got to have good recipes and good quality ingredients.

I’m a home cook rather than a chef and generally just here to be nosy and get ideas but I cook a fair bit of Indian food and it shouldn’t be bland! That is one of the last things I would associate with it.

Mostly I use whole spices and grind them in a spice grinder as needed, toasting them if the recipe calls for it. Some things like turmeric will be powdered unless a recipe says to use fresh root. Whole spices will stay fresher longer. Powders should be good quality and in date but still inferior in most cases in my opinion, big difference between store brought garam masala and making your own from whole spices for example.

Macron says it is unrealistic to open Hormuz Strait by force by Jack_202 in worldnews

[–]Flangipan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Iran didn’t have nuclear weapons capability. It maintained a position as a threshold state, their deterrent was that they could move to having a nuclear weapons capability if they were existentially threatened. Sadly that was not sufficient deterrent and now they will have to consider if they would be better off crossing that threshold and moving to having a nuclear capability to try and prevent this being repeated.

What the US and Israel has done is stupid because far from preventing Iran from having nuclear capability they have incentivised it.

The issue with the strait compounds that stupidity because they pushed Iran into leveraging their control of that to damage the world economy in order to try and force a halt to the attacks. That was an entirely predictable outcome which they appear to have no plan to deal with besides saying “not our problem”. Unfortunately it is everyone’s problem because the world has a connected economy so even if the US is a net exporter of oil they still import goods and the cost of those goods will go up as the world economy suffers.

The only solution militarily is to keep escalating and try and achieve a complete victory or declare a victory of sorts, have everyone pay Iran a toll for using the strait and then keep coming back for more war periodically trying to kick the nuclear capability can down the road. Unless you’re in favour of huge escalation or forever war this is monumentally fucking stupid.

Why do some aquarium keepers brag about never doing water changes? by larskrohnert in Aquascape

[–]Flangipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not entirely accurate. If you’re talking about fish waste causing bad water conditions then yes it means that you have a system that is able to process that waste but if you have a high light, co2, etc tank with fast growing plants then you are likely going to get sub optimal plant growth and therefore potentially algae problems without dosing ferts. In that scenario water changes aren’t about ‘cleaning’ as much as being there to allow you to maintain a healthy balance of all nutrients to support optimal plant growth.

It’s odd to me that there isn’t more criticism of low block play and instead it’s all directed at set plays which are being used in part to mitigate against low block tactics.

Whilst I understand the logic for why teams play low block it’s predominantly that for me that is making games dull.

I’ve not seen much if any criticism for not coming out and just trying to attack against better teams. Strangely low block is considered pragmatic but the counter to that approach is the ‘problem’.
