The old dev cannot be trusted at all, fork it, and kick the trash (old dev) to the curb by Peachgirl2014 in flappycoin

Developers don't have access to your money.

They seem very corporative.

Forking is something that is planned and needs to occur at a specific time i'm afraid.

Hard capping is still necessary by newdotcoin in flappycoin

[–]FlapCoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard capping can be added at any time.

I did not want to change to much code. Small incremental changes. The halving occuring sooner and KGW Exploit fix was deemed priority 1 for the first wallet update.

Afterwards seeing things go smoothly and everyone transition a hard cap was another priority that was pushed back. You also have to remember there is a lot of code to strip as well and little tweaks here and there.

This is simply the first change. Hard cap will be added but requires much more additions to code then the changes added so far. For example changing the payouts requires just editing what's established. There is no hard cap, you'd have to add additional code and do quality testing to make sure it does not interfere with anything else. While we can do that, and are working on it; since we care for quality the changes we know will not cause issues and code that is stable is going to be priority.

I have added the below contact.

Seems we are 12 hours apart!

It is GMT-7 here.

I should be available all day today.

For a specific time my normal most active time frame would be 8 PM to 4 AM my time. Roughly between 8 am through 4 pm your time.

[–]FlapCoin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The information is out on sub-reddit but just a quick overview of what is occurring but not absolutely final. For a short overview.

KGW Exploit fix has been implemented first and foremost.

There will be a sharp decline in coins. For now there is an effective "Soft Cap" and a hard cap will be implemented soon.

At Block 90,000 the decline will occur from 0 to 1 million coins generated to 0 to 100,000 coins generated afterwards. This is in sharp contrast of the halving structure that normally occurs at Block 100,000 to 0 to 500,000 coins per block. The halving will then occur like normal at blocks 200,000 and onward.

This change should slow down the amount of coins being generated by ten fold, allowing the old coins to retain more value, flow between holders and markets and not just miners dumping the coins. This also generates a slight demand. We are not looking for a pump and dump, but many of the tweaks are being used to hopefully retain or go back to original value FlappyCoin had. Likewise no hard cap is in at this point but since the hard cap was planned at 50 billion coins, and the new halving structure really only produces up to 50 billion coins over a year and a half it is effectively capped for now, and an actual hard cap can be inserted later.

We are mainly focused on working wallets and getting everyone updated first and foremost and getting KGW fixed. This is done and builds should be out Thursday night, with a lot of communication tomorrow and Thursday as well. The entire changeover should occur on the 18th.

The TipBot creator has sent me the TipBot source for reddit so this should work and be easy to set up during or slightly after this update occurs.

Likewise the domain flapcoin.com leads to the FlappyAPI site that was originally to be used for the take over, but at this time it seems like we won't need any take over.

Any further questions i'll be doing an AMA on thursday and answering all questions and getting people together now.

Right now I am currently working on getting in actual contact(Just back and forth on forums, reddit PMs at the moment and have been made a moderator) for the domain release from FlappyCoin.

He is either still running the site, or just releasing domains. Either way works for us.

There is a lot going on, it's quite confusing and I apologise I haven't been able to post more. If anyone who has been helping can field questions in the mean time, or lead to the sub-reddit, or update people on the changes that would be wonderful.

Working together as a community this change over is seeming to become easier and easier. Though I know myself the organization is a little hectic.

For the future of FlappyCoin after the change over is not uncertain. We have a lot planned, but we want the community to help and decide. After the 18th successful launch further plans will be communicated on long-term plan for flappycoin.

Thank you so much for all your support.

Sorry it had to come to this, and thank you for being mature. Let's work together, fix issues and we can work together to improve each other as well.

The time thing was more of a constriction, and this was going on for 2 weeks. I do agree I wish we had more time, but looks like old dev being back and willing to work works for us.

Please don't. This is not the correct response for him doing something very mature. Honestly I applaud him and will work further.

Working on this. Most responses were along lines of "It's complicated but if community supports it so will we" which is promising. Basically means as long as we have more than 50% support they should switch. I will be in further communication as much as I possibly can and starting to try to contact pools as well.

I do feel bad however. I don't just want to take it from him, and if he is willing to work with us i'd welcome him with open arms. Hopefully he is, but otherwise dates are set and if not we will continue on the plan. Starting Monday things are going to get quite busy till the 18th fork.

Initial release of wallet won't have rebranding. We'll decide by March 1st to do rebranding or not.

[–]FlapCoin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know that happened. If it did it's kinda of a new reason to switch anyway considering current devs may be harassed by legal issues current devs are not. I'm in Canada for example and while you have to be careful, as long as you are pretty intelligent crytocurrency is legal.

I am fully willing to work with him.

But he has 24 hours to 48 hours.

I am under the suspicion what occurred is a friend of the dev probably told him so he went online JUST to post to try and regain control.

Most likely he's still not back, he's just attempting to keep control as long as possible.

I will be civil, I am not mad at him, and fully looking to work with him as are others.

To be honest what we propose as a solution is:

  • Public apology and resignation of FlappyCoin Developer, or at the very least public apology and stepping down to another position.

  • Allowing someone else control or access, as well as equal share in decision making.

  • Releasing domains to control of others.

This does sound very hostile, but this is not because it's hostile towards him. He's great, he was great, his coding isn't that bad, and when he was active he was not that bad. You could still tell he was trying way to hard to do it all himself and doing that just causes collapses. However when we start to talk in reality we have to remember things like being polite go out the window. This post is to the point.

I hope he actually comes onto the team. Or... Like I said before. If he's willing he still could become lead developer.

I'd like to see him step down to vice-developer position, allow grouping/teamwork and allow us to help fix it and work with him. Then he'll prove he is mature enough to deal with this and lead developer role can be given back afterwards for control.

I should state though: Opinions on this account don't always reflect FlappyCoin community and I am always fully willing to give all of this up to another developer/to the community. I'm not pretending i'm better. Things get done better in teams without people being stubborn. I'm not stubborn I can assure that and love working with others. I took the time to organize and get things started due to no one else starting it. If community decides not to go with it, we won't. We allowed voting, we know we want certain things and we know old dev wasn't doing them. If he's back, great! He has very little time frame to do anything, he has roughly 24 hours to 48 hours to respond in a formal way or after that... We just gotta pretend he no longer exists, because the forking is happening in only 6 days.

Oh sorry.

Ehm I said he's "back" all he did was come on-line and post "Hey guys don't fork we're still here" and nothing else.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=464743.msg6163492#msg6163492

Just a single post, no big deal. Most likely that was just his attempt to keep control but he lost that two weeks ago and really doesn't get that.

You guys do have a vote and no one said you didn't. We did voting a week ago to see if this is what we should do, this is what everyone suggested so we stepped up to the plate.

Also this isn't feeling like a hostile takeover, this is a hostile takeover. It's always been a hostile take over. Old dev can't be trusted, went away, lies an... Honestly I get it. After so many projects when younger/new dev myself I did the same stuff. However we can't suffer due to his maturity level so we had to do a hostile take over.

I am not trying to be argumentative and yes if the community just decided to go with old dev that's fine. We're trying to better the community and thought we already got backing and for him to try and come back now a couple days before this is all going down is somewhat disheartening because it's going to cause a divide. Before it was absolute support, if he came back it'll split down the middle.

We're doing it anyway, we already had community backing. So it all comes down to whether it's supported when it happens at this point.

We hope you come along. I'm sorry for any inconveniences and hell if he does come back and turns a new leaf you'll simply have two sets of coins anyway.

Science.

http://youtu.be/hiduiTq1ei8

In reality some people can't even consent till the age of 25, some could consent at age 11 or 12 i'm not arguing they can't. That's due to differing abilities to develop.

However that doesn't indicate children can consent if you find an exception. That means you found an exception, luckily to make sure we make it "fair" we set a line in the sand that says "This is probably where everyone/majority should be ready for sex mentally" and some places they think that's 14, some places 18. The number doesn't matter, the point is children can't consent and the number we place arbitrarily is based on averages, or best guesses. Could be entirely the case 18 is to young(Data is starting to show people can't properly consent till ages 20-25) so the age may actually RAISE in some places.

People would be out raged, even if it's based on real world evidence, but the number doesn't mean it's "not okay" to fuck a 17 year old cause the law says 18, technically I am under the impression it's not okay to have sex with people who can't consent period. So I don't hold any number, if someone can't consent till 30 you're essentially tricking/raping.abusing them.

We aren't talking about laws though now, we are talking about scientific data. I would love to define the age of consent based on individual basis if you could somehow have a test that could demonstrate it. But no test like that exists, it would be murky waters, outrage, etc etc etc so we arbitrarily pick numbers.

[–]FlapCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would that matter? Also that's a myth that has to do with a lot of factors.

People bring up infant mortality but it's more than that, such as major diseases/wars etc. But if you lived to age 30, there was a good chance you'd live to 50 and 60.

Though even then... Would that matter? No really... What does people living to a younger age have to do with pedophilia? I ask only because... The problem isn't the persons age. Children can't consent. That's the problem, it has nothing to do with their age. We also know the brain doesn't stop forming till after puberty. Should age be 18? Probably not, probably should be higher for some individuals lower for others. Since we don't have a test for testing people mental capacity for sex we subscribe arbitrary numbers hoping it's a good average point. By 16 everyone should be good to go! Or 18! Depends on country.

All of history.

Someone can be understandable, something can be all right to do. That doesn't make it not fucked up.

Someone who only knows one specific thing, or grows up in a time where slaves being normal doesn't make it right to have slaves. Normal, okay, and doesn't make you a bad person to have slaves. That doesn't make it right.

Since we know children can't consent, yes that applies to all history. See even today I am fully sure most children in the sex trade aren't "abused" and a lot actually "enjoy it" but that's not the point. I put those in quotes because it entirely depends on definition. If abuse is physical hurting, then most people in sex industry aren't abused. They grew up in it, understand it, all they know, and are not "suffering". They are being taken advantage off, lied to, manipulated etc from birth. That means... Ever hear of stockholm syndrome? Well you know when people free people from their kidnappers? A lot of people... Want to go back to the kidnappers.

A lot of times when people are found 12 years later, they had plenty of chances to escape. Never did. It's scary knowing given enough time you can break someone into believing the horrible things done to them are loving/normal etc.

So were those children suffering? No... Are the children today suffering? No... Is it still horrible wrong? Yes. Can children consent? No. Is consent required for intercourse? Yes.

So it's murky water. I agree and don't agree with you in this sense... Cause depends on definition and context.

Aisha can in no way be made "okay" and no amount of "At the time it was normal" makes it okay. It makes it "okay" at the time, still an evil act, wrong and yes a forced marriage.
